What's the best build for Sona?
I usually go
, is that the right build? I don't trust mobafire that much so that's why I'm asking here

You need Lich Bane
When i played sona to get to gold i usually did this

sometimes a
or
I would get
because it was broken, but still its good
some other situational stuff, but the first four are core
You don't need two ward items (
-- Eye of the Watchers &
-- Ruby Sightstone). Trade out
for
-- Frost Queen's Claim and add in
-- Lich Bane.
Also, getting
-- Chalice of Harmony as soon as possible (though, it's already in your list) is kind of important since it helps with the mana issue that Sona tends to have.
As for anything else, it really just depends on how the game is going. You could potentially trade out
for
and get all three Heal Buff items --
if you need as much healing as possible. Crunching the numbers, it theoretically works since it will give you a hell of a lot of healing/shielding power (compared to just having one or two of them) as well as buffs your allies, but I've yet do a lot of testing on it.
With full build --
-- gives you about as much healing/shielding/buffs as possible. Yea, there's no boots (which you should initially buy, but eventually sell for one of the healing items), but by the time you get to this point, your E will give enough movement speed boost that you don't necessarily need it. Your damage won't be as high as other builds (so your Q will be weaker), but it isn't too low due to
and
.
As for aggressive builds, you usually want to rush
, lead into
, and then eventually
.
Full build --
-- gives you quite a bit of damage with your Q, and you still buff your allies with the
buffs when you activate W. Just like the passive build, you don't need boots by end-game (though you initially want them) since your maxed E combined with the movement buff from your other items act like boots and then some.
Mid-Game Notes:
You will very rarely get to full build with Sona. Overall though your items should almost always consist of the following items (or any items they build into) by and during mid-game:
(a component of
and the item that gives the passive that Sona is mainly looking for in the item)
(the upgraded boots you get depends on a variety of factors)
(again, extremely helpful with the mana issue that Sona tends to have)
--Level 7 Sona.
Thank you a lot, it really helps me.
As for playing Sona, here are some things to keep in mind when controlling your passive:
1.) Your Q is an auto reset. Because of this, to get the most damage off do the following:
-- Get up to 2 charges on your passive.
-- Do Auto -- Q (bringing it to 3 charges) -- Auto (activating your Q'd passive).
This combo deals the most amount of damage for Sona and triggers
as well as Thunderlord's Decree (if you have that keystone active).
2.) When the opponents are trying to All-In, use your W'd passive onto their damage dealer instead. It acts similarly to a weaker built-in
, but focusing primarily on damage reduction. It's most noticeable on Arcade Sona since it gives a "DMG Down" overlay on the champion you hit it with.
3.) When chasing down your opponent, use your E'd passive which acts like a built-in
by slowing them (which is why you won't lose much if you decide to build
instead of
&
); however, it doesn't grant vision on them and it only works on one person (
works on two).
Thanks again

kinda depends on the game... there is no one correct build
Very true, but most champions tend to require certain items most of the time (not 100% of the time). i.e. Their core items.
well as someone who has played sona since season 2
im not a fan of
on her. and i havent played her since the removal of the aura from
and the removal of the ap from
my go to build prior those changes were

The Rabadon's is primarily to accommodate for the lack of AP you get from getting the healing buff items.
with windspeaker blessing and
her heals are fine...
you have more then enough ap with
giving 60ap+50ap+80ap for total of 190ap +15 ap from runes for 205ap (on a support) you really dont need death cap and its cost is godly for a support
3800 gold
so you take the 205 ap + the windspeaker passive +10% heals + the passive on
+10% and lets say W is maxed at rank 5
115 +25% ap so 115 + (205*25%) 51ap for 167ap +20% =200 hp on heal not including the shield passives from W, windspeaker and
Is basically a "Holy crap this game is taking a long time" item. By then, the enemy team would be full build, so you'd end up needing as much AP as possible to boost your Q and W in comparison.
I can agree is an appropriate item in comparison due to its defense stats (and active) before then.
i would still get
over
it allows you to buff your adc or other fed champ stronger
Unless your ADC is building full crit, which makes Zeke's almost useless.
but not all adcs have a 100% crit build...
typically adcs have about a 50% crit chance in their builds
20%
20%
30%
30%
30%
30%
and typically you build either reaver or IE not both and one of the attack speed crit items
which is 50% so with the passive of
is 100%
and you dont have to use it on the adc you can use it on any champ you need to
