Just a heads up about the Evelynn Rework

Abibyama·Sep 21, 2017·27 votes·27,977 views

It's being developed by the team behind which made quite a lot of his mains upset. Just pointing that out, but here are some good news

{quoted}

Reminder that what makes Evelynn... Evelynn is: "it takes a lot of effort to move like this in heels."

People don't care if she's a brand new champ. Just... don't remove that quote. :^)

{quoted}

She still has that quote :)

And her Hate spikes is there

And finally in her teaser she looks hot.

lets see if the rework team have redeemed themselves next week when we see her gameplay

I think they will do us right this time around. What pissed a lot of Galio players off was that most of us played him as an AP mid lane, usually a carry but sometimes tanky. So they made him go from a tanky mage to a magey tank, if that makes sense. Complete role reversal, no one shot burst, and these days people don't even play him with AP they just build full tank build.

Eve on the other hand is still (I would assume) an AP jungle assassin with some form of a permastealth element. That already encapsulates like 90% of her personality and theme, even if the kit is completely different. I really hope she just finds her place in League after this update, I've been around since season 1 and the cycle of Eve is that she is extremely op (and fun to play) and gets nerfed out of existence, then she was reworked and extremely op, nerfed a bunch, and finally the W changes kind of put her in the ground, only being viable to play as AD or AP but not in an assassiny way. Hopefully this time those of us who fell in love with AP assassin Eve won't be turned away by sweeping nerfs and changes to her gameplay pattern again.

To be honest, when it comes to Galio's theme of guardian that comes in need and his anti-magic niche. I think they succeeded in that.

And what I read from Reddit and the boards. it seems that would be like a Warwick level of modernization. so some of her abilities may completely change and still feel similar to old eve which makes me hopeful that they will nail it

MiraweaveSep 22, 20172 votes

Yeah, the Galio rework changed Galio a lot so it's hard to imagine mains not being a bit pissed, but there really wasn't a way to reasonably keep his old niche.

MelledoneusSep 22, 20177 votes

I don't know what you're talking about. I think the Galio team is among the best teams because they took a horribly outdated design (Galio and his one-dimensional stat-sticking) and turned him into an amazing interactive experience for everyone playing with him. Galio just existing in a game can spice up any game if his player knows what they are doing.

NoblewindSep 22, 20173 votes

New Galio is way better than old Galio. I know of course some OTPs of any champ will dislike changes, especially big ones, but along with Warwick this rework was great

AbibyamaSep 22, 20171 votes

Yeah i agree on that new galio is way better period but i have seen people saying stuff like like: ''WTF HE'S NOT BLUE OMG RITO KILLED MUH MAIN'' and ''I CANT ONESHOT WITH ULT ANYMORE RIP GALIO''

DoozkuSep 25, 20171 votes

Idk tho he is overloaded as fuck and he doesn't fit the anti-mage theme very well currently but he is pretty fun to play and a fair champ to play against tbh.

Malicious MetalSep 21, 20175 votes

FALSE.

The lead gameplay designer for Evelynn is Riot STASHU while SOLCRUSHED was the lead on Galio.

AbibyamaSep 21, 20171 votes

Ah so basically same champion update teams ; different personnel?

ChaosThiefSep 21, 20173 votes

A different leader can lead to different results.

AHEvangyleneSep 21, 20175 votes

Different does not always mean better though.

RiotReav3Sep 22, 201717 votes

Small Correction. Stashu is the designer. Statikk is the lead designer on Evelynn.

DwarvenGiantSep 22, 20172 votes

Wait, so this means that Statikk is the leader of the team but Stashu is the lead gameplay designer, with Stashu being under Statikk in this weird, "officially unofficial" sort of professional hierarchy?

######I think?

RiotReav3Sep 22, 20174 votes

Statikk is a design lead on Champions team. Stashu is the designer of Eve not a lead designer. We say a designer is taking lead on a project like Stashu is for Evelynn because the whole champions design team plus the pod working on it collaborates and helps on the project.

ThorgramSep 22, 20171 votes

Hey Reav3 !

Sorry to go off-topic but i'm looking to contact Riot (and Rioters) on LinkedIn but i don't really know who to go to.

Any advice on this ?

SpideraxeSep 22, 20171 votes

Actually what's the difference between your role and Statikk's since you do head up Champ Up as the producer but he's lead designer on Champ Up like Scruffy for champ design

RiotReav3Sep 22, 20176 votes

We have basically merged the teams at this point so Statikk and Scruffy are both design leads on Champions Team and can work on New Champs and VGUs.

As the producer my role is basically the lead of the overall projects where as Scruffy and Statikk are focused purely on design. We have art leads and a narrative lead as well that are the leads of there crafts. I'm more concerned on making sure art, design and narrative come together to form a cohesive and compelling Champion.

BrutusnessSep 22, 20171 votes

Hey Reav, you know when we can expect the roadmap? A week or two?

RiotReav3Sep 22, 20173 votes

Probably a week or 2 after Eve goes live

I don't know if you had any part in this and this is not the right post to be asking about it... I didn't get an answer there so I will use the opportunity to ask anyway.... How did this pass post production? https://imgur.com/wnUwnIx

Tell them thanks for keeping that quote :D

DoozkuSep 22, 20175 votes

I'm calling it right now

Her passive stealth is going to have some kind of mini-game attached. There's always a minigame attached...

BeheadedSep 22, 20172 votes

i hope so

AlienPrimateSep 22, 20171 votes

I'm calling that it will have something to do with being near walls being that she works with shadows.

Lord of MathSep 22, 20172 votes

There was a fake leak that said something to that effect. They denied it.

Lord of MathSep 25, 20171 votes

Can she have a chime minigame attached? We can have bard's gf. Or maybe she gets to stealth from killing things. Like for each lane minion she kills she gets five seconds of stealth and fifteen for each large monster and a minute for champions.

DoozkuSep 25, 20171 votes

Yeah those two suggestions were also my idea. But now with the teaser I doubt that eve has some kind of chime attached. More likely that killing jungle monsters stores stealth that you can activate

BlackOnyxAltearSep 21, 20173 votes

ugh, i like her current look a lot more. too bad she wont get a traditional skin

ZyniXSep 22, 20173 votes

What? I don't even see much of a difference except she looks hotter.

SweedishGunnerSep 22, 20171 votes

Right now she wears leather and looks like a dominatrix.

In the rework she'll be 'naked' with shadow as clothes.

Kerrigan 4 PrezSep 22, 20171 votes

Perhaps her shadow skin will maintain the dominatrix look.

Karn BishopSep 22, 20173 votes

My main hope is that they keep her low to no mobility as people who like mobile assassins have plenty to choose from already and the feeling of positioning perfectly is part of the reason i enjoy playing eve and why i despise playing champions like ekko or leblanc who have lel made a mistake buttons haha click.

Evil YasuoSep 22, 20173 votes

Is she AD or still AP? I ask because her older kit was like you could build her AP but you could also do her AD for her E

Support PositionSep 22, 20173 votes

Meh I dont trust Riot anymore. They ruined too many mains.

SukishooSep 21, 20172 votes

Well, it is supposed to be a Warwick style update, so she won't lose most of what makes her who she is. It is just going to be modernizing her overall look and gameplay. So somethings will change but others get to stay the same, so nothing like Galio who had a Massive overhaul.

PopcornBunniSep 22, 20172 votes

All I want is her trolly movecasting Q and on-hit E. Nothing is more fun for me in this game than proccing 20 on-hit effects with Evelynn in a second and a half.

as long as she can jumpscare people for 1/3 of their health i'm happy.

McsquzzySep 22, 20171 votes

as long as masquerade looks amazing idc about anything else

NalzradSep 22, 20171 votes

So, using the knowledge that Eve's rework teaser has been released; when are we expecting for her to go live on the PBE? Evelynn

AbibyamaSep 22, 20171 votes

the upcoming tuesday night i think

DCYOUNG888Sep 22, 20171 votes

Think the preview will come out today or next week? Lately we've been seeing teasers pop out on Fridays like Urgot, a time Riot doesn't usually release this kind of info.

DeunneSep 25, 20171 votes

all i hope for is that they keep her Ad Ap ratios on her abilities .-., although in the teaser it looks like that would be unhealthy due to having that 3 shot combo R-Q(hatespike)-Basic with duskblade, statik and tl proc

404 TerrorSep 26, 20171 votes

For those trying to guess her Stealth: it's her W. She casts it and leaves behind the dot/orb-thingy. She can then reactivate it to return. You're welcome.

LevuSep 28, 20171 votes

Aaaaaand eve mains are pissed.

AD completely gone Move speed Gutted (But it's ok she has a mini game with her new Skillshot Q that charms the enemy) Btw They made Q a skillshot No Stealth pre 6. Also No mana regen on Stealth. Unstealths when taking damage (Period) Auto attacks are Completely useless, No more Attack speed steroid E.

Ironically, and this is the hilarious bit; The Team behind this mess says they REALLY WANTED to not make her a skirmisher that can win fights and stay in combat for extended periods of time;

However the strongest way to play her currently on PBE is full tank; in lane, abusing her Health regen post 6, and the %Health damage on her E.

Otherwise shes no stronger than Elise or Diana.

They butchered her gameplay.
