Zil is the worst take on 'Time Mage' I have ever encountered
Seriously.
Just the worst.
Riot's mini-remake didn't help in the least.
His kit just isn't particularly time-y. He's got a slow/haste. That one makes sense. The stun on his Q-gimmick? Alright, we'll give him that. But throwing clocks at people? Refreshing his own cooldowns? A glyph of resurrection? It doesn't even reset the target back to where they were when it was cast. It just flat up heals them. That's a cleric/paladin sort of spell. Not a time mage.
So what would a set of time mage skills look like?
The problem is that things that are sufficiently time-y tend to be extraordinarily powerful. Imagine being able to fling a target forward or backward in time a few seconds. Or marking a foe and causing them to cease to exist if you kill them, erasing all the damage they did after placing the mark. How about an aura that removes movespeed soft-caps for allies? Or causes slows to stack additively on foes? How about literally resetting the whole map back ten seconds? Or debuffs that increase enemy cooldowns? How about an ability that braids enemy timelines together, causing them to share the damage they take? Or maybe a skillshot that gets pulled back through time, starting at the target location and then homing in on Zil? How about a huge zone of time dilation that hastes allies and slow enemies? How about a distortion that sends the damage into the future, giving the champion some extra time to live?
This is one of those 'the sky's the limit' sort of champion concepts.
But we're stuck with one of the blandest kits in the game.
