Got to love Hotfix overshot on aatrox

I will say that aatrox did need a few buffs. But they could have waited a patch at least though once people started to get use to the new Aatrox kit. He has a substantially different playstyle and trolling first timer pickers get punished for doing so in ranked; should not be an insta-pick-up easy champ with high reward.

That being said, I like the base HP boost, the increased dash range and the better range on first Q.

I am okay with the auto reset e provides, the lower CD on his ultimate early, the increased range on 2nd Q and okay with the Q dmg increase though I think made kit a little too strong.

I AM NOT OKAY with the damage vamp (life on damage done) his E provides now. 20% lvl 1?!? 25% max rank? what a joke. dude has way too much sustain now. The fact there is no drawback for vamp on minions makes him WAY too abusive especially in melee matchups. This needs to be lowered especially if they do not nerf other parts of kit they just buffed. Like only 50% effectiveness on minions or revert back to 15-20%. I also think his passive is a little too strong now especially with auto reset his dash provides now. No reason to ever pick jarvan or riven or even kayn now if aatrox is available with a few practice games.

Also on a sidenote, I think the "hold shift for more info" they did is a cool idea for future implementations but so stupid for this Aatrox scenario. Like it should be an option if provides like an extra paragraph of info or extra info that isn't necessary. But holding shift literally gives you values you want and adds maybe a few extra words at most. As an example, his E states its a dash and provides vamp passive and bonus AD. hold shift and it gives values of vamp passive and bonus AD; it only adds numbers we want to see without holding a button. No potentially "distracting filler". Makes no sense to me.

The 20%-25% healing is only on champions for everything else it's 6.6%-8.25%.

Overbuffing Aatrox but not nerfing MF, Draven or Wukong?

The Riot games special!

Anyway...

PASSIVE: Aatrox heals for percentage of the post-mitigation-physical damage he deals, with a 33% effectiveness against non-champions.

Healing is calculated AFTER armor and effects that reduce damage taken.

Things like

  • Phantom Dancer
  • Ninja Tabi (Lowers his auto attack damage meaning less sustain from that)
  • Any Armor items
  • Abilities that reduce damage taken such as Warwick E, Galio W, Alistar R etc will reduce his damage dealt so less sustain.

If you're having troubles vs his sustain, item 3123 is your friend.

25% max rank?

Yes. Otherwise he would be useless without that number. He needs that much sustain or he cant function. Also, the healing is reduced when it doesnt damage enemy champs.

They needed to buff him up so he'd be a great pick and players and pros would pick him and say "what a great champion". Covers for their failure of a rework.

He's great in lane and anything simulating that back and forth -- but he falls off quite hard in the ability to land damage quick or reliably enough and is simple to play around. It's almost like a Mordekaiser, except at least Morde can press R for a lot of frontloaded damage in a teamfight and have his own AoE damage if engaged on.

Seems fine honestly as he is, just that he feels clunky as teamfights start. Why is a champion avid about dueling almost helpless when engaged on by more than one person, and weaker when being the one engaged on close range? It's just an odd paradigm he has. From a gameplay design standpoint, he isn't up to a standard we expected I suppose.

What bothers me more than anything is that they haven't changed his ultimate to feel a bit more impactful or reliable.

It's so painful and awkward when your ult runs out half a second before you die and you don't get revived. At least make it so that Aatrox heals for some amount of health over time if he didn't die before his ult ran out.

He wasn't overbuffed, his Q is bugged now was bugged that's why. In a way that heavily benefits Aatrox.

Edit: This is why his winrate is now dropping again, the bug was fixed.

I mean that's what you get when boards just cries "aatrox trash!" pretty much every single thread even though HE WAS LIVE FOR LESS THAN 3 DAYS!

It's only that much against champions :P I think that also about the same as Nasus' life steal scaling that isn't reduced against minions.
