Nerf Zed by giving his ult a bit more counterplay

It's a simple nerf really, add clarity for the poor squishy about to be assassinated so that they know which direction their death is coming from.

Add a shadow poof visual effect to indicate where the untargetable Zed is about to reappear. It would give players (particularly newer ones) quick visual feedback that can help them plot their next move (such as Lux binding you under the turret that you shouldn't have dove at &<10% health). I, as a more experienced player, know that he always appears on the opposite side of me. This isn't readily apparent to new players, and I highly suspect that even some older players may not know this. This change would help players, particularly newer ones, know that Zed will appear behind them which would establish a fair point of counter play against an incredibly powerful spell.

This can also help out players that are new to Zed, giving them visual feedback to go "Oh okay, I'm appearing on the opposite side of this champion".

If it's impactful enough, they may even be able to revert some of the timing nerfs on Zed jumping back to his ultimate shadow.

I threw together a qucik Gif demonstrating the concept with my amazing flash skills by adding a shadow VFX where Zed appears: http://i.imgur.com/AwKYGLr.gifv

For the record: That Lux was a beginner bot, otherwise I would have been very dead.

He always appears behind you.

Correct, I know this. I just believe that there should be a visual to show that to you in game.

Is it fair to say that there are probably a lot of players, especially newer players, that don't know where Zed will pop-up after using his ultimate? This change is mostly geared towards helping those players understand a mechanic that could potentially save their life.

"he always appears behind you" if thats 100% accurate why not have a quick indicator he will appear behind you? literally nothing will change

It would teach players, especially newer ones, where Zed will be. This could be incredibly helpful if you're playing as someone with a skill shot hard cc, like Lux, hit him with it and move away. This would be an incredibly small change in higher tiers of play where players already know which side of them Zed appears on, but a fairly big one in the lower tiers where players are still learning the game. This could even be helpful for the new player that is playing Zed for the first time.

Again, its a minor clarity improving nerf, but I think it would be very helpful for new players.

Nope, instead of that, they're making him immune to QSS. Great balancing, RIot!

I don't see any shadow appear behind lux, unless you're talking about the messy shadow VFX I made in flash?

This is the source video I recorded for the gif: https://youtu.be/SAqIfwedop8

There is no shadow or any effect that appears behind Lux that indicates where Zed will appear, my suggestion is to add one.

Don't mind the sound, I was watching a video on my second screen.

I actually think this would be a really good idea, it may end up having no effect
