In defense of IVERN

I read a lot of complaints on the forums that ivern is junk. And that his global win rate is below abysmal.

From what I can see on lolking, there are a bunch of people at high elo, who have alraedy a good number of games with Ivern, and all are reaching good win% with him.

This tells me Ivern is not as weak as you make him out to be. Probably, he is decent, but you do not understand how to play him.

If other people can reach 55%+ win rate with Ivern, and you can not, it means he is good enough to play with, but you can not play him yet.

In my opinion, Ivern is a good champion but he requires a team that really works well with his kit to actually do much.

Ivern alone is not a useful champion, I hate to admit, but with the right team he is potentially one of the stronger champions in the game I feel. It won't surprise me at all if we see Ivern in pro plays eventually even.

If I can have over 65+% winrate in low Silver with about 22 games using Windspeakers + item 1410 item 3117 item 3504 item 3174 item 3089 item 3116 on Ivern

Anyone can if they are willing to practice him

A possible part of any high Ivern win-rates could be partially caused by people not yet knowing how to play against him as well. The relative experience with the champion between the player and the other team is so far off balance, that you may be able to escape when you shouldn't, or get free kill when they underestimate you.

I'm not saying Ivern is bad or good; in fact I haven't played with Ivern enough to make any judgement on him. I'm simply pointing out that the highest win-rates you see are also likely a bit above where they will be once Ivern sees moderate play.

Its probably mostly support ivern. You can cut off attacks with brush, cancel ults with brush, etc all because of how buggy vision interactions are.

Add in a pretty long snare/gapcloser, a shield, and a big dumb rock you can throw around to eat skillshots with said snare/gapcloser...yeah, he's a pretty decent support.

-- I've had my AAs and abilities forced to cancel a lot of times by Vayne and Khazix players popping stealth at the right time. Pretty sure "force to cancel due to loss of vision" is an intentional interaction.

-- All the iverns I've seen on lolking that have been both really successful and really high elo are playing JUNGLER ivern.

-- ...Or the high elo Ivern players will find even more dirty tricks to play with him, and his win rate will skyrocket once these good players learn all his tricks, see Taliah. Im not saying where things will be in a week - but i think you can't tell either.
