Dear gold players: how do you do less than 10k damage in a 20+ minute game?

I have to honestly ask this because gold this season is impossible to play. You guys are supposed to be 80th+ percentile players.

In the past 2 days I've had:

  • 4k damage darius by 25 minutes in. Every other lane and position won. We lost the game because it was a 4v5. No. He didn't d/c.

  • 10k damage J4 jungle in a 55 minute game. 2/15 jungle misses smite on elder drake at level 18 against a 100 ap Karma Q. Gold 1 player.

  • 6k damage Vayne. 30 minute game.

  • 4k damage riven top. 40 minute game.

I play a utility/support champion. I need to know why teammates are doing less than 10k damage per game. The game actually isn't playable. So please, can someone explain to me why this continues to happen?

Is it that hard to hit buttons?

If you farm and dont trade all the time you wont do damage. You main a support thats mainly poke with w and sometimes q on lane, ofcourse you will do more damage that a darius thats only lasthitting. Smiting drake can be quite stressful and mistakes happen. Karma q, especially empowered, also does quite a lot of damage. Vayne did low damage, yes, but she has the best cs which would have been important did the game last longer since vayne scales incredibly well into the lategame with gold. The riven played against a kennen top. She wont have any damage unless she all-ins, which is risky. Its afterall a melee vs ranged, its safer to farm.

Now what about your 0/4/3 morgana top game, 90 cs in 20 minutes in a ranged vs melee lane. Oh would you look at that, 4.8k damage in 20 minutes, lowest damage on your team. Its easy to point out others bad games, maybe look at your own.

Looked into your darius game. Your darius was gold 4 vs a gold 2 rumble. Already unfairly matched in my opinion, but upon further inspection you can see the Rumble was Diamond in previous seasons, so the Rumble is either a higher level player that took a break from league and came back(most likely the case) or its just a smurf account. Dont blame your Darius for being unfairly matched and dominated in lane because he was facing a higher skill opponent.

Im sure if he was facing another gold 4 player he wouldve done better but terrible matchmaking screwed him.

just checked your match history and the numbers im seeing dont seem to coincide with what you're saying in the OP, so correct me if im missing something but from what i see (of your last 38 games):

feel free to correct me if im missing something.

This one is easy. The majority of us low-elo players are very self-focused. Either A, we don't understand how to win the game or actually DO anything if we aren't ahead. Or we just don't really care about the team/game and just care about our own experience and therefore focus more on our build and being able to 1v1 fools than on team.

So this is why if you have a split pusher who is supposed to bully lane and hard split actually lose lane, rather then abandon that plan and just group up with the team to help facilitate and let themselves get carried, they permanently sit off in a side lane for the rest of the game farming or trying to find 1v1's they can actually win. They care more about feeling powerful than playing well and winning. If THEY are the ones carrying they just don't care. Or they don't even care about the win and want to feel strong, and they will justify it by saying "I care more about having fun than winning".

I agree it's very frustrating.
