Suggestion for Annie's Ultimate Ability Changes
For a while I have been thinking about how Annie can be tweaked in meaningful ways so that she presents a little more counterplay in her kit. In my opinion Annie has been a solid pick for a long time. While she is not necessarily in the meta now, she can be frustrating to play against. My biggest pet peeve with Annie is how her Ultimate paired with her passive gives her opponent virtually no time to react before getting combo'd down to zero health. So here is my proposition for Tibbers, since I know the mage rework is coming later this year and I feel as though giving her Ultimate a bit more counterplay is right up Riot's alley.
So what is my bright idea? Give Tibbers a delay by having Annie lob him into the air instead of the bear instantly spawning at a location.
My inspiration for this was the League cinematic "A Twist of Fate." If you have never seen the video (which I recommend you do as its very well made), Annie appears with TIbbers toward the end of the cinematic. When she throws Tibbers into the air, she uses an underhand lobbing motion and Tibbers transforms midair. I believe this is an absolutely perfect way of having Annie's ultimate ability work.
Annie should lob Tibbers into the air, sort of in the same fashion of Corki's Phosphorescent Bomb (Q). In exchange for this delay, some depth could be added to TIbber's impact on the ground. The explosion radius could be made larger, with the stun being applied in the middle and a heavy slow being applied by the edges. The ultimate could be given more base damage to compensate for the slower missile speed. Or, another alternative to buffing the damage would be to have Tibbers create a burnout effect in his initial impact area, similar to Shyvana's W in dragon form or a circular rumble ultimate.
I just feel that with the way RIot has been trying to develop meaningful opportunities for counterplay, Annie's ultimate is a perfect candidate for changes. All I'm asking is for this to even been looked at by Riot, so that hopefully it sparks an idea for change.
