@Riot, why not just let Thresh proc Relic shield execute?

So out of all supports Thresh is second to last place for average gold earned: http://champion.gg/champion/Thresh

It's SOOO tedious and awkward to proc Relic shield on him. I realise there is a skill aspect to it, but that doesn't mean it feels good or rewarding. It feels like you're fighting your ADC for last hits, it doesn't feel healthy at all. If it isn't already bad enough during laning phase, trying to get any procs off during the rest of the game is a complete nightmare.

Either let Thresh proc execute on Relic shield, or make another support item that gives just as much health.

It is easier for Thresh to proc THAN ANY OTHER RANGED SUPPORT because of his E passive. If YOU can't proc it, then buy a different support item.

He's literally the only ranged support who would ever need to buy Relic shield so that's not really much of an argument.

What other ranged support would ever find themselves in the middle of a fight or on the front line?

Karma. Zilean. Gnar, if you'd like to take something tanky bot lane. (Look at release Gnar week - Gnar support was quite popular, and worked quite well.) Vel'Koz would front line as harass and rotate to the backline once a fight starts.

As Inhib said, if you can't proc it or have a problem proccing it, or find a gripe about the item on the champion, learn to adapt and buy a different support item. 'Thresh is the only ranged support who would ever need to buy Relic' There's no real reason to buy Relic. You want a heal? Play safe and you've got free hp regen. Want a shield? Locket! Lantern! Want a bit more health? Randuins, Sunfire, Banshees, Righteous!

Let me rephrase. It's easier for Thresh to proc relic than it is for any other champion because he doesn't have to get into melee range to do it. Why give him even more of an advantage?

Melee procs. Ranged doesn't. Why in the hell would they make an exception just for Thresh, a support that is already a top level pick? That literally makes no sense.

If YOU can't proc relic because YOU'RE not good enough to, buy a different support item. Simple.

thresh is second to last because he roams and helps his team... gets his mid laner kills and spends his time warding.

and he does proc relic shield, its called max flay first for 200 damage autos.

Watch any high level support streamer, they basically give up on ever trying to get Relic procs off unless they literally having nothing better to do.

no they dont....... they have 60~75 cs in a 35minute game

im telling you how to win with thresh, do it or dont. pick coin if you have too, its still good for the mana and speed active to make/escape a fight.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Karma does not roam. Janna does not roam. Alistar likes to stay with his ADC. Support Vel'Koz likes to sit with his AD and protect them from ganks, keeping up harass as well. Zilean can't roam well at all without giving up experience needed for levels in Chronoshift.

The 'high level support streamers' you watch are sacrificing GPM for health lategame, due to FotM's shield passive synergizing well with Thresh's lantern and with Mikael's. You know why they 'basically give up on ever trying to get Relic procs'? Because there are hooks, there are stuns, Alistar combos, and Blitz grabs to be landing.

'Unless they .. have nothing better to do.' You know why they don't bother with Relics and why it doesn't take priority? Flay autos are used for harass and extra damage on carries that are hooked. Using these flay autos on minions creates spots of stationary Thresh, sacrificing harass or aggressive positioning for higher GPM.

If you depend on high-level or high-MMR streamers for all of your game information and build paths, you really, really need to spend more time on the game yourself. Pros aren't always doing what is the best. High-rank aren't always doing what is the best.

Someone taking Relic on Thresh, knowing full well that you're taking the selfish stat (health) over mana regen and a free disengage/engage active (Talisman) late game, without being able to proc the heal reliably, is no reason to have a ranged champion (Thresh) be able to proc the passive without some type of sacrifice.

Uhuh, and where's your proof? Where's your backup? There's none? So I can sit here with Ashe, with Jhin, with Kog, and not roam, and be fine! I can sit here with my immobile AD and not leave them to die in a 1v2/1v3 situtation! Logic!

Stop trying to hit every single minion just to get rid of the charges. Let the Flay passive ramp up, then smack the siege minion (or a melee if one is not available) for the kill.
