I am the only one who's got a bad feeling about the new rift herald and her super pushing ability ?

Yi Bencheikh··20 votes·1,223 views

Just curious .... i have alot to say tbh ... but i just can't make it out in well written sentences that express my feeling and my reaction towards the new scuttle crab looking rift herald . I don't like the idea .. Why ? because simply i think it will create more between early and mid game ( 9 - 15 mins ? ) shitstorms like the '' bot lane clown fiesta '' except for now it will be on other lanes , and more like the team who will get the rift herald would get such a huge advantage , the game woud be more snowbally , more one sided stomping games. at the end this is just my opinion and how i feel about the new rift herald which i think better be removed before it makes it to live , because i can see from now on the boards filled with '' rito wtf remove this herald '' threads I love the design and her animations but i am kinda scared about the results of her being added into the game.

Have fun guys , i tried my best to not rant in the bad way and sorry if my english is bad

How to farm upvotes with a title:

  1. "Unpopular Opinion (insert popular opinion)"

  2. "Daily reminder (insert statement that you don't actually remind anyone of daily)"

  3. "(insert unpopular champ) is stupid OP, gut them Rito!"

  4. "Am I the only one who (insert opinion that is clearly shared by many people)"

Etc.

oh. you know whats going to happen. one team is going to get riftherald. then 5 man bot tower with it and thers nothing you can do to stop that tower from being taken. its already the weakest tower and now you got a monster helping the 5 man to push it down. fucking sick m8

Glory ln Death1 votes

How is it the weakest tower?

Yaśuo Main1 votes

Well, I was just in a game where bot lost tower to Xayah and Rakan 7 minutes in.

KoggyStyle1 votes

ive seen trist thresh do it in 5min

And I had a game 2 days ago where Jax had lost his 2nd tower to GP 13 minutes in.

Again, how is bot the "weakest tower"?

statelesskiller2 votes

the first tower in bot lane has less armor and i THINK less health then the other T1 towers. it takes more damage then other towers. thats why its the weakest tower

Glory ln Death1 votes

Bot tower has the same exact stats as all the other lanes. Check it in game.

Sona Ping1 votes

Check it in game; it does not.

Glory ln Death1 votes

Bot Tower: 3500 Health, 152 AD, 40 Armor, 40 MR, 0.83 AS

Top/Mid Tower: 3500 Health, 152 AD, 40 Armor, 40 MR, 0.83 AS

All with the exact same scalings for their AD, Armor, and MR over time. Perhaps you should actually check in game, yourself, before telling someone else to do it.

Yet here you are saying this.

Why don't you check things out, before telling others to learn about a subject you don't understand.

Glory ln Death1 votes

Why don't you actually click on each tower to see their stats? The stats being argued about here are health and armor, which are exactly the same. Top and Mid have the "Fortification" buff for the first 5 minutes of the game, which reduces damage taken. Every stat is exactly the same.

And, yes, I am aware of the Fortification buff on the other towers, however, everyone seems to ignore the fact that it only lasts for the first 5 minutes of the game. With games lasting 30-40 minutes on average and first tower blood normally occurring between 10-15 minutes, 5 minutes is nothing. Especially considering that minions don't even arrive in lane until about 1:40, meaning the buff only affects about 3 minutes of gameplay.

The lack of Fortification on bot tower will only impact a tiny fraction of games played. Bot laners will barely have hit level 4 by the time the other lanes lose Fortification, and very rarely will one side have been able to push the wave in to the tower and actually deal noticeable damage, unless one team is just absolutely steamrolling that early on.

Not to mention the fact that the original comment in this thread is complaining about bot tower being the weakest... in reference to Rift Herald's new mechanic. Rift Herald doesn't even spawn until 10 minutes - 5 minutes after the Fortification buff is gone!

So, please - tell me more about how bot tower is so much weaker than the other towers.

Yaśuo Main1 votes

Because it does not have fortification.

That's literally it, + 2 people bot lane hitting it instead of one. Significantly weaker. I don't see why you bring up stats when it's not the stats that make them weak.

And if Jax lost 2 towers to GP 13 minutes in, your JG is probably neglecting top lane entirely and/or your Jax is a trash can.

Judging from the picture, Bot Lane Tower pretty much takes twice the damage top and mid do before 5:01. Which is pretty massive, because if the bot lane sucks and gets double killed or ganked super early and both die, that Turret is gonna get sieged and it's gonna have an even less of a chance surviving if the JG is helping attack the turret. Therefore, bot is the worst turret whether you like it or not. It will always have took more damage than the other turrets in the game.

So yeah,

  1. Your Jax is unskilled

  2. Stats don't mean shit sometimes

  3. 13 minutes in, everyone would've been well over level 6. Is it that surprising that Jax lost it at 13 minutes?

Oh yeah each tower has a pre-5 minute shield, with bot tower being either 50% or 75% as strong as the other ones'.

Glory ln Death1 votes

You're talking about the Fortification buff (50% damage reduction, not an actual shield), which bot tower doesn't have at all. The actual stats are the same, and the other towers lose it at 5 minutes, like you said. It doesn't actually affect most games unless one side is getting steamrolled from the moment they step into lane, since the buff ends so early (barely level 4 for bot laners).

The only thing it really does is discourage lane swaps in high tier and pro play (one team sends its bot lane to the top lane at the beginning of the game and the two teams basically trade towers, since it's easy to push 2v1).

All i can see is Mordekaiser Rolling up with herald and drag ghost. Fun times....

MrHaZeYo2 votes

Ya it should make those one sided games feel even more one sided.

lilpokfluf2 votes

It will fix the issue of 5 man bots though, now there's an objective that can completely negate a 5 man. Obviously your team has to have the insight to do herald but the idea is to punish the teams that abandon top lane for a 5 man clown fiesta without preparation.

Keevalroy1 votes

And then what happens when the team set to do the 5 man has the Herald as well? You just lost the game.

Hopefully you didn't just give up herald for free. Maybe you got a drag, or a tower, or did a 4man bot of your own.

Keevalroy1 votes

My point is that when you are facing a team who gets ahead early and starts snowballing, they could take Herald after a dive, 5 man a lane, and push to an inhibitor, possibly even taking it, with the Herald. That level of "stompy-ness" is disgusting.

Suppose it was just a bad teamfight that started this, and the teams are still somewhat comparable in terms of power. They might lose one tower but be able to hold the other. Now suppose they aren't, and the other team just curbstomps them because they have no way to fight back. This is a dangerous mechanic to be playing with, and Riot needs to consider the impact this will make instead of going "OH WOW SO SHINY AND NEW LETS THROW THIS SHIT IN THE GAME CUZ LULZ!" like they've been doing with the last few updates.

An Enemy Sutando2 votes

Already Weak Towers + Objective that when secured, pretty much guarantees at least one turret unless their entire team decides to pile the lane it's pushing

Hoo boy, I can't see how this could go wrong at all.

They are copying Boss in HotS or Super Creeps in Dota 1. I think it's cool.

Keevalroy1 votes

If I wanted to play HotS, I would play HotS. Just because they're MOBAs doesn't mean they're the same game - this will be extremely unhealthy for League.

SanKakU1 votes

I don't agree. The Elemental Drakes were introduced to give players an option of whether to take the team buff or not, what's their other option, right now it's kill the other team while they're trying to take it. Making the Herald a more attractive choice means it's another option more often.

No, you're not the only one. This is a terrible idea and if Riot cared even a little about how stompy games have gotten, then this shouldn't have been approved at the concept stage. I feel bad for the art team who did a great job with the new design, but I really want the Herald gone from the game. Let's actually TRY to reduce snowballing shall we Riot? Don't put a lead foot down on the peddle please...y'know, the way you did with mobility creep...which is still "definitely on your radar."

Yaskamasandwich1 votes

You're not the only one there have been frequent complaints on the board about the new Herald.

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

You aren't the only one worried, but I'm still wary about siding with the worriers yet.

I think the idea sounds really awesome; remember that the primary goal will be to make Rift Herald actually useful. This is going to do that.

Now, it's totally fair to post concerns about how it will effect early game, but it's all theory crafting until we actually play with it. A lot of its power depends on how difficult it is to kill and how dangerous it is to take, which are not only unknown factors rn, but also getting tuned by Riot as we speak.

RenownedWheat421 votes

Almost every game where I've gotten rift herald, it's been from behind. Once I got it while our team was ahead, after spamming "assist" over it for a few minutes. It's not just who's ahead that gets herald to begin with.

The problem with it as it is now is that virtually no one cares about it, despite the fact that a huge chunk of the time, the team who DOES get herald ends up winning. The impact was just not visible nor desirable enough. With the update, it'll FINALLY have a visual impact and be something people either want for themselves, or just don't want the enemy to have.

The thing about the herald is that it can be very easily taken down. I've watched a few PBE videos, namely some from Foxdrop, and in one of these his top laner managed to get herald. It was able to take down one tower with no enemies around and his top laner assisting it, but that was it. It can be CC'd, it will attack minions, it'll actually be very easy to take off your towers.

Glory ln Death1 votes

The team who gets Herald has a higher win rate simply because it is basically only taken when a team is already significantly ahead. It's like how the team that takes first inhibitor is more likely to win - well, yeah, they're already in your base, no duh. Rift Herald itself doesn't have a huge impact on who is going to win currently.

You're not the only one worried about this change buddy. I main Top Lane. I like the island play style where I don't get attention from the other lanes. I don't like a 5 man top clown fiesta.... I'm gonna start maining Jungle now. At least there won't ever be a 5 man gromp fiesta... I hope

its about time split pushing is actually a threat and tryndamere shouldn't be the only one that can do so.
