Can we expand the "rune shards"?

I know a lot of people liked the old runes for a variety of reasons... personally I LOVE playstyle altering keystones, but I also think "rune shards" AKA nothing but passive stats runes were the best change to runes since Runes Reforged. They're like old runes... except far more limited.

Can we have something a bit more like the old system while still keeping the ability to greatly customize your playstyle with keystones? The simplest way would be to add more rows of "rune shards". Another way would be to add rune shard-like "minor runes" to the minor rune rows for players to take when they'd rather have stats than minor playstyle alterations. Personally I don't see why "Minor runes" and "rune shards" need to be such distinct things in the first place. Couldn't "offense" "flex" and "defense" have just been rows of minor runes?

the rune shards are more of additions than anything else; that is why they are distinct

the keystones and main runes are supposed to be your focus, while the shards are just gateways to help cover extra bases, or build on what you plan to do

as an example my Support/Tank Runeset is Grasp, Demolish, Conditioning, Overgrowth, Cosmic Insight and Biscuit with CDR, Armor, and MR

the first shard is either helping me get a bit more damage because I may not always be able to grab 40% cdr on my items depending on what I need to build

the second and third are just adding a bit more (but minimal) numbers to my defenses so I can take some more hits before going down

adding more shards or having mirrior runes (that i'm assuming are just watered down versions of the main runes in the pages) could viably break those extra slots

what other shards would you add? The ones we got pretty much cover most bases and as for mirror runes, that would just break the system; because what if I could run two runes from the same line that both benefit my champion just because I have a mirror rune?

Having a few distinct impactful choices for pure stats in the pre-game is better than lots of possible micro optimizations that would take hundreds of games to determine one setup is better than any other by less than a percent in terms of its impact on win rate.
