How much does it matter? Nasus Q

Leti the Yeti··1 votes·1,158 views

I think the most popular complaint I've seen to date is Nasus's ability to face roll towers... and widely proposed to balance out his infinitely stacking Q would be to remove its ability claims like.. oh he can 4 shot turrets or he wrecks em faster than adc... some of which are exaggerations but I get the idea, he reks em really quickly

most people, in their experience have seen for themselves.. how Nasus chunk a NOTICEABLE amount of health away from a turret in just 1 hit so of course, most people upon hearing this would agree... sounds pretty broken However I want some answers , I dont wanna join the Nasus nerf circlejerk until someone explains how significant it is... hopefully through numbers cuz im too shitty at math to find out for myself

My opinions below,

Do nasus faceroll turrets faster than other champs? I don't think a late game stacked Nasus ability to knock down a tower is that much faster than an adc Not until Nasus gets like 1200+ stacks or something... Nasus will surely do it with less hits but an adc will make up quality with quantity I have no math or vidyo to back this up, its all just faith, contradict me if you can tho

How significant is his ability to chunk turret health? Really, he can do a large amount of damage to the turret... well so what of it? objectives, especially late game is a team effort.. ever seen a team roll all over a turret? exactly! so whatis it so dam amazing about Nasus bringing down a turret quickly?

But Nasus is speshul!!!??! uh, i dont think so :C It's not like Nasus is the only champ to be able to faceroll towers We've seen trick2g run up to inhibitor turrets without minions and knock em down and leave plenty of times Or just play AP xin zhao, he can pretty much do it too.. also without minions probably alot of champs manage to do this so it's not all that unique

Tho, i personally have never been able to walk up to a inhib turret and bring it down from full health to zilch without minions This tells me that well... Nasus isnt the fastest turret killers in game

It isn't the fact that Nasus can brutalize towers, as most AD champs can: It's the fact that Nasus can brutalize towers while building pure tank.

That and Wither having a 6.6 second cooldown at max CDR makes actually punishing Nasus for splitpushing or farming alone basically impossible.

It isn't the fact that Nasus can brutalize towers, as most AD champs can: It's the fact that Nasus can brutalize towers while building pure tank.

How is that actually a problem?

Nasus's defensive mechanic is actual defense rather than range or mobility.

Unlike champions like Caitlyn and Zed that get their defensive capabilities as abilities - Nasus isn't mobile damage or ranged damage, he's tanky damage. And he actually starts the game without any actual tankyness. He only gets durability through his kit at level 6.

Just like every damage-dealer, you need to build items on Nasus for Nasus to be useful. You just get a dynamic where Nasus gets damage from his kit and needs to build defense, where most champions get some form of defense in their kit and need to build their offense.

He has one of the worst lvl 1 to 6 journey in the entire game and if he fks up more than once during that period he would be completely out of the rest of the match. And he has to somehow farm up a truck while still killing people in his not-so-good state to roll all the way to his OP late game.

That's how he is balanced. He has to work HARD for 30 minutes for his 5-10 minute of OP'ness, and that's okay.

That and Wither having a 6.6 second cooldown at max CDR makes actually punishing Nasus for splitpushing or farming alone basically impossible.

He's obviously a champ built for late game scene, if you're waiting to punish him while he has already farmed enough to 3 shot turrets and got max cdr, you're clearly doing it wrong. Abuse the hell out of his bad early then laugh at him for the rest of the game.

As a Nasus player, I can say there is some truth to that. he can 6 chunk a tower with a lot of stacks

However most of the community tends to "exaggerate" when they complain or want nerfs to gain support. I used the wiki as a basis for the math to give more of a close idea of how realistic the nasus tower smashing complain train really isnt as bad as most think.

lets say nasus has 200 stacks against a outer tower. Witch if his Q is at max rank that's 310 physical damage per Q

a tower has 1000 HP and 100 armor.

now according to the wiki, A unit with 60 armor has 60% more of its maximum health in effective health, so if the unit has 1000 maximum health, it will take 1600 physical damage to kill it.

now since turrets have 100 armor that would mean 100% more damage or 2000 HP to kill a tower

HOWEVER! turrets also get reinforced armor if no minions are around, so that brings it to 200 armor

now that we have the tools

Nasus Q = 310

Outer Tower effective (with no minons around) HP = 3000

3000 / 310 = 9.6 Q hits rounded

now since nasus max Rank has a CD of 4 (not counting items) that would mean it would take nasus about 38 seconds (9.6 Q hits x 4 seconds) to take down the first tower in top lane.

now with minions in lane then the outer tower has 2000 effective HP because it will no longer have reinforced armor

so

Nasus Q = 310

Outer Tower = 2000 effective HP

2000 / 310 = 6.4 Q hits to take down the tower. 6.4 x 4 seconds = 25 seconds to kill the tower

now lets take an ADC like Jinx. at level 5 (since we gave nasus max Q rank) has 62 base AD at level 5 + 50 from her BF sword (assuming she farmed enough) giving her 112 AD.

using the same formula as we did nasus

Jinx Auto = 112 Outer Tower HP = 2000

2000 / 112 = 18 autos rounded, now in an ADC's case her attack speed depends on how many autos she can deal. lets say it's 1 auto per second.

that would mean jinx can kill a tower in 18 seconds.

TLDR

**NASUS CAN KILL A TOWEING IN 25 SECONDS

JINX CAN KILL IT IN 18**

Now Nasus isn't just using his Q, he is also autoing while taking down a tower, and he can always slap on CD to smash faster. as jinx may not always have her BF sword, and her Attack speed may not be that high or even higher depending on builds. the support could be helping the ADC to take it down, while the jungler could be helping to take down top.

CONCLUSION: although Nasus will eventually out scale an ADC (if given the time AND FARM) the tower smashing Nasus Is not OP.

The real question of rather or not he is OP is, Do you think that a tank should be allowed to deal that kind of damage to anything? In witch case the only way I could justify him is how hard a Nasus would have to work for that kind of damage. But it still remains debatable.

I hope this provided insight

A good player will break 200 stacks every 5 (to 10) minutes. Depends on cdr and cs capability. I have beated 800+ stacks at 40 minutes and walked up and 6 shot the tower.

200 stack in 5 to 10 min?

I don't think minions spawn that fast. Considering there is only 12 minions per minute, if I am not wrong, and you have to take tradings, Q's cd and all that into consideration (and Nasus's early and the fact he is melee with 0 mobility besides a strong single target slow as cc).

It's entirely possible yes, but I wouldn't think it should be expected.

I'm assuming in a more left alone status. Most people prefer to act like Nasus doesn't exist at some points, so free farm because pretty strong. It speed up later is the 5-10 minutes as well. Early on, that's insane to expect. But after frozen heart....

How about we fix the extremely toxic nature of Tryndamere before we even talk about Nasus.

It amazes me how people fail to recognize the real top lane problem.

I've not seen that man in like ages.... I think I stopped playing him ever since people wised up actually

Nasus definitely downs turrets faster than pretty much anyone. Certain ADCs Jinx can shred them faster, but they usually can't just run up to it and bop down an Inhib turret and both Base turrets in one go.

AP xin zhao is pretty troll. Udyr is next up after Nasus, but its mostly because the constant Trinity procs and AS boost from Q let him shred them, and W means he takes virtually no damage while doing so.

My personal experiences tell me Nasus cant bop down inhib turrets and inhib either :l we are talking about minionless right? 800 stacks later? still cant quite manage to do it.. how peculiar

I should probably include somewhere in my post I'm using 800 stacks as the standard >.>

You compared the tower taking capability of a pure tank to a pure damage ADC. That's why he's annoying. He has tremendous damage, extremely high tankiness, ridiculous scaling and to top it all off, his whither is annoying as balls. OP? No. Annoying and stupidly designed? F**k yes.

For me at least, I don't enjoy being forced to close a game out in 30 minutes (Hoping my teammates cooperate) to prevent Nasus from inevitably becoming a god because you cannot punish him for split pushing. The resources you have to devote are obscene and he'll STILL get stacks.

Not to mention if your laner messes up once you can kiss denying him goodbye. It is so frustratingly punishing.

Need even more annoying? You got it. He's insanely binary. I hate designs like this. He penalizes very specific things and is penalized by very specific things. I recognize he's not a balance issue fully. No he isn't overpowered, no reasonable person would argue that he is. However, I just can't stand tanky damage dealer ticking time bomb scalers like him. I'm aware he's not the only one, and I dislike the others equally.

Don't worry about it. It's mostly just a few people spamming threads and reposting them when they get downvoted to nonexistence. It'll pass in a couple days as people move to the next target.

Zmuecat1 votes

Most likely this. Nasus doesn't have enough in his kit for people to focus on, and one someone actually OP comes along, the forums will switch back to them. We're kinda in between OP champions atm.

If they were to change him at all, the only thing would be a damage cap to structures, and I don't even want that. If Nasus is fed enough to the point he can 3 shot towers, he can probably drop the cane on your entire team, so the tower damage is actually him not having you wait in a game you messed up for too long.

I think it's the fact that a decent team can hold a 4v5 while he afk farms, builds nothing but tank, and stack, then late game he is unkillable with 5 tank items including merc treads or ninja tabis, all that defense while also having 400 stacks he can walk right through the front line pop his ult, wither the carry, spirit fire under them then 1-2 shot q them before they can do anything, all the while the team is trying to peel him off their carries, so the rest of Nasus's team comes in and kills them.
