What's up with RGMs sporadic availability?

Sometimes you get a week of one gamemode other times it's just a weekend. What gives? Dark Star was available throughout whole week last time iirc, and bloodmoon two patches ago lasted for the whole week then too.

Those were for events. Singularity was released along with the new dark Star skins, so they made it last the whole week. Blood Moon was essential to the missions in the vs event as it featured both riven and yasuo.
