If anyone's to blamed for the removal of T3 support items...

Blame those who instantly rushed AP or Ardent Censor & never bothered building the Sightstone itself for the whole game, especially the following:

  • playing Xerath/Zoe/Veigar "support" & didn't give a fk about team survivability.
  • getting ganked from the dark multiple times & still stubbornly refuse to purchase visions.

But on the bright side, support item abusers like ADC, Klepto GP & Nasus, or any Mid/Top AP champions getting Frost Queen's Claims, can now contribute to giving team vision alongside the support, so that's something.

Question, how can someone be a support item abuser? I usually play support so if I go mid or top (or god forbid jungle)I will generally get a ward item to go along with my gold accumulation (because my farm could use some work and hey extra bonus stats and gold) so does that make me abuse the items or something? I NEED ANSWERS?!

That's typically it. You're buying an item that's unintended for solo laners, hence why the support items were lightly revamped multiple times (and also the reason why Spellthief became a shit item & every AP caster support rather choose coin over it, back around early S7).

Then why dont they make it so that there is a support section for items, like what they do to jungle items?

In Blinds, there's no way the computer can even confirm that the player's playing Support, and people can also change their role in Draft Pick.

Well couldn't they make an item that indicates someone is playing a support? Kinda like how smite does?

Ignite & Exhaust are still usable spells in solo lanes, so no.

I never said anything about those specific items and I said "make" which is partly my fault for not specifying what I thought would be clear as to make a whole new item that is geard towards just supports to indicated that they are playing support, just like how smite is an item that is only taken by jungles and indicates that you are playing jungle which then shows certain items for that class...the same can happen for supports.

We already know these changes cater to bad, or i-don't-want-to-be-here players who end up in the support role. They won't notice diddly squat when the actives disappear, but people who main it. People who have half a brain and know the role, just got a serious kick to the balls with these changes. It sucks that Riot is just trying to appeal to unskilled players now. Dragon and buff timers took away an aspect of skill. Runes took away so much build diversity. Now they're removing good sometimes key items to force stupid players into receiving vision, and guess what, it's not going to help. Those players will still be bad, will still die to dumb ganks, will still not peel or engage for the team, all the while support mains will be without three major items to assist their team.

I don't know. I'm a part-time Taric main and I've been calling for an end to sightstone for a long time.

I'm not going to pretend that I know for sure these changes are going to be stellar right off the bat, but I think it's the right direction to move. Sightstone was a 800g blockade to more interesting support purchases, and it's important to find a way to get past that before we can have truly diverse play in that role.

As you already pointed out, Ardent meta was still allowed to exist with sightstone, so it's not like having that item was stopping annoying things happening down there.

I actually blame on the balance team not knowing how to balance the game.

They are at the same time reducing the skillcap of the role (already easiest role) and making it even more overpowered.

Because you know, every support played "loved" ro rush the broken pos ardent, so thats what they are going to do, let support players rush broken items again completely disregarding game balance.
