"Rune Reforged and Honor Update" Thoughts/Response
To begin, I really like the idea behind the rune reforge. In my opinion, bringing masteries and runes together makes pre-game much less tedious.
However, the value of each of the runes is much higher now. Not only do they have to make up for the stats lost from the previous system, but also make up for the stats lost from the mastery trees. I know Riot will be further expanding upon the system later and primarily need our general response.
My main concern from the video is the new Honor system. I believe this new system is a huge step in the right direction. The post victory/defeat screen which gives players the chance to honor one of their teammates is very rewarding and has shown success in other games. My concern which is stated in the video (6:38) is the fact that "key fragments will now drop through the honor system instead." I'm very behind rewarding players that have high honor scores with increase key fragment drops and exclusive content, but I do not think it should replace the drop system all together. I see this system being problematic to players who enjoy off-meta picks or those who like playing the game alone. This game has changed to the point where many players give up as soon as they see an unfamiliar pick and stop trying all together no matter the performance of the player. While this is acceptable since we have no control over people it is problematic for those who want to be rewarded with their victory. A simple solution would be to keep the drop rate of key fragments or slightly lower it for all players of any honor level and increase the percentage for honorable players. In conclusion, I am by no means displeased with any of the changes; I just want to make sure they are executed correctly. Thank You
