Patch 5.17 and not ONE buff for Sona

If a champ like Sona had 50% pick rate/ 50% win rate in 2013 withing pros and in 2015 it's 5% pick rate, something is wrong, BUFF SONA

Eh, I have no clue why she needs buffs. Don't ask for buffs when they need none. Not all champions see pro play.

The hilarious thing about that graph is you fail to see the implications behind it.

Her play percentage is literally abysmal. So who is playing her you may wonder? Oddly enough, it's people like me who enjoy her and tend to do very well with her, and thus win.

Of course her win rate is going to be fairly constant when she's basically being played by one person. Now if her play rate was higher, say something like this...

Then you'd think that perhaps the champion had a little too much going for them and deserved to be toned down since they are being picked an obscene amount of times and their win percentage doesn't see much fluctuation.

Lmao k. That's talon playrate, he's at 4% playrate and he's got less winrate then Sona.

He's also fine, even at that, doesn't need buffs or nerfs.

That's because Talon is in the same unfortunate "Why play?" spot as Sona. Why play Talon when you can play Zed? Why play Sona when you can play Thresh? In my opinion it's not so much these champs need to be buffed, but that other champions need to be brought into line to not horrendously outclass them.

I'm not one of the "Whining Sona mains that want her buffed".

I'm one of the whining Sona mains that wants other champions brought into line. I think it's ridiculous the amount of power champions like Thresh are allowed to have while Sona is still the one considered oppressive. It's insulting.

Everytime I see a Sona on the other team, I always call out: Kill the Sona.

Yet somehow it never happens :(

Considering 5.17 has had most of its changes for a long while, why not complain during the cycle while they are working on it instead of after the patch is wrapped up?

I agree with the replies. A low win rate with a low play rate warrants buffs. But a decent win rate with a low play rate means nothing. In fact, you could even go on to say that Sona is balanced.

There's several factors that give a champion a high play rate. Is their design cool? Are they sexy? Are they relevant to the meta and are they strong?

Champions like Yasuo, in his prime had a high play rate because he contained all of these features. Champions ilke Vayne right now, also share all of these features.

Sona may be strong, and even sexy, but she does not fit into the current meta and doesn't have the appeal to players who want to play a conventionally cool character. She's a mute who plays an instrument, that's a niche quality that not everyone will be drawn too.

When Sona is REALLY strong, she see's a higher play rate not because she's cool, but because people want to take advantage of her toxic kit. When a champion like Vayne has a high win rate and a high play rate that means they deserve NERFS.

I say, let the dedicated Sona mains play her well. If others don't want to learn the champion's ins and outs, so be it.

Eventually there will be a change in the meta. My prediction: When sightstone gets a rework/ is removed. Full AP CDR sona support will be appreciated more.
