Penalty for dodging ARAM

So, this is grating on my nerves for quite some time now: The penalty for dodging a ARAM game is identical to slightly higher than that of SR. However the benefit of dodging in a ARAM game is much greater than that of SR, namely, a chance to pick again.

And that should change.

I'm not concerned about win rate or anything, ARAM is actually remarkably balanced for what it is, no matter what team comp you get. I'm the ANNOYED AS HELL player that gets dodged a gazillion times because some goon squad decides they have a "bad champ". The most annoying aspect of this ordeal is: it actually works, you do get to roll again, amazing huh?

So what am I proposing? Simple, put in a mechanic so that whenever someone dodges in ARAM, he's still stuck with the same champ in addition to SR penalties. This ensures that there isn't some idiot that decides he doesn't care about time penalties and other players' rage bar from time to time. This also does not overly penalize some players who have legit reasons to leave the game. I do realize there is potential to "save" a champion to create a super team, but considering how difficult and time consuming that is, I doubt it will be a serious problem.

EDIT Mistakes were made, ARAM have slightly higher penalties than SR

I never understood why people dodged in ARAM. I mean the whole point of it is All RANDOM All Mid. It never made sense to dodge because I got a champ I didn't like. Defeats the purpose if you only will play certain champs and not others

I've dodged a few ARAM games in the past because I kept getting teamed up with bots, to the point I had their naming convention memorized.

I guess I wouldn't of dodged if the bots were better programmed, but as is, they're just bigger "minions" that feed hardcore and make for a miserable gaming experience for anyone stuck with them on their team.

Besides that, I've also dodged matches in the past, where I got stuck with Nunu during free week (he's just not fun to play).

Honestly.. after his last free week, I've learned to avoid playing ARAM during any week that has Nunu, as it seems many other people share my dislike of the champion.

IE: People dodge when they get him and or get stuck with him on their team.

I hate some champions quite a lot too (cough:Rengar ). But the tiny fraction that I simply cannot stand can be rolled away(as was meant to be) TBH I don't dislike Nunu even though it isn't my first choice either, but this is what ARAM actually is, in essence.

Do you know that if you dodge an ARAM game you have to wait 15 minutes and if you dodge a SR game you only have to wait 5?

They made the time penalty higher than SR, actually. And while you do still get some dodges, I have to say it's way better than it used to be.

I think losing your rerolls when you dodge and the time penalty is obnoxious enough for the player. Interesting idea, though.

Most people who simply dodges don't have rerolls most of the time tho. So while the reroll lost is definitely reasonable and does help a bit, I'm not really convinced its actually enough.

I see a problem with forcing a player to keep a champ. Rather than just play a match and get it over with, a player might want to trade it away. If no one accepts, they'll dodge again, contributing to the problem.

This is a good point. But I'd think the increasing time penalty would ward against that tho.

Isn't it way higher of a penalty? 20 min wait vs 5 min wait? That's 4x as long. Many people would rather play a 20 min game then have to wait 20 mins and not be able to play.

Or, they could disable the clearly obnoxious ARAM champs like Lux Velkoz Ziggs Blitzcrank Fiddlesticks along with the absolutely useless ones Udyr Skarner Vi Tryndamere Renekton and maybe people wouldn't be tempted to dodge in the first place and then people would have no reason to dodge in the first place.

To make my point clear, since the introduction of summoner 32, the champions you listed as obnoxious and useless aren't exactly obnoxious and useless. In fact, Vi is a really good case of hyper counteringLux Velkoz Ziggs
