All four ablities are skillshots and she's incredibly squishy. Even with a Zhonya's she's not too hard to kill. Frankly she needs that range to do anything.

Also her damage is pretty low. Except if you fed her. And trust me , getting fed as lux is not something easy when your E costs 130 of mana.

everything is a skillshot and fairly high mana costs that punish her for missing them

It's part of her power budget, dude. She has no mobility, and her skills have a window of time to be dodged.

For contrast, you got a short-range nuker with little time to avoid her cc Annie , short-range champions with conditional cc and damage Irelia , and long range immobile champions with hitboxes displayed as they charge their abilities Xerath
