Slows effect dash range?

Just an idea, but should slows reduce dash range by the same percentage that they reduce MS? for example, you have a 700 range dash, but are slowed for 30%. With this system, that would reduce the dash range by 210 (30% of 700), down to 490 range. Would this break the game or would it (or a system like this) reduce mobility creep and help the game's health?

This would create a lot of confusion, and balance issues. Not a very good idea anyway.

However, what could be done is reducing the dash speed based on slow (to a cap), not the distance.

Was JUST thinking the same thing!

If I'm slowed, I'm less mobile.. you're right, I could never wrap my head around that.

On a more serious note, some dashes (I'm thinking Ezreal) don't have a speed, they're essentially instant. Actually, on second thought, making a distinction between slow-respecting dashes with a speed and slow-ignoring instant dashes might be the right way to go.

Just do whatever it takes to make Riven/Kalista respect my Wither/Gravity Field/Laserbird and so on.

Because those are blinks.

It's because it's difficult to realistically be able to react. If you get hit by 2 slows, you don't know exactly how much you're being slowed by. 25 distance is the difference between making it over a wall and fail-dashing, so not being able to tell if you could make it is pretty bad to be unclear.

Agreed.

This.

slows should atleast effect kalista's passive.

Actually, they do. The range on her jump scales with movespeed.

Zazusha1 votes

No, it scaled with Boot level, tier 2 boots make her jump further "Martial Poise distance scales with Enhanced Movement, and is increased by 25% when dashing backwards." (IE the passive on boots)

As riot has stated before changing ranges is not a very healthy thing to do. There are very few abilities that change range over the game and even of those only a few of them are used in clutch situations.

People are very fast at learning their own and enemy ranges and if slows get to reduce range on dashes this would create unhealthy situations. Instead it could increase cooldown or dash speed if you want the interaction but dash range is close to sacred and not something that should be changed from second to second.

I like it, but also, some dashes like Grave's and Lucians are already really low range.

As much as this would curve the gapcloser meta, it would make wall dashing pretty heavily headache inducing when you find out that the same wall you can dash through with a 40% slow is undashable with a 45% slow.

But then immobile mages might make a comeback in mid instead of being shoved into bot or top! Can't have that

maybe buff a slow's duration if someone uses a dash ability while slowed. riven gets slowed she dashes. that dashed practically made .5 second of that slow irrelevant. so for each dash a slow's duration could be extended by .5 seconds? in other words a slow will only be factored over ground covered while walking.

I like that idea, that could be pretty interesting.

ya, I also think it would be a soft/indirect nerf for riven which is a champion that can be quite frustrating to play against.

Would be pretty unintuitive, and completely bull with targeted dashes. It would feel very odd to use target dash on someone and then stop...in the middle? And what about the damage? It wouldn't make sense to get damage from a dash that doesnn't reach you, but that would be pretty OP. And low-range dashes would be pretty screwed too; Yasuo now only moves a pixel. Blink users on the other hand don't care; Ez Incidentally, there are also a number of 70% + slows out there, which would completely crap on any dashes. Suddenly, every character with slows would get a huuuge powerboost. Spammable slows would act like mini-silences.

Overall, it's too wonky and radical to implement. A more tame idea would be probably if slows would prevent movement spells for a tiny duration; not for the whole duration of the slow, else they'd be silences for mobility spells. Not sure if that'd be a good or an bad idea though; just tossing out.

Was gonna say basically the same thing about targeted dashes. Plus, a few champs have very short-range dashes that can only barely jump certain walls--they were designed to be able to do that--and having slows reduce those dashes would basically eliminate an escape route entirely.

As for stopping mobility spells for part of the slow duration, that would be a bit too strong. Either the duration of the anti-mobility is too short, or Ashe is suddenly an extremely powerful Marksman (and Frozen Mallet/Rylai's would become pretty broken).

While your point is valid, I would like to clarify. For this to work, it would reduce not just the range that you move but the actual cast range as well, so there wouldn't ever actually be any situations where you would dash and then stop half way to your target.

As for your last point, somebody further down suggested that maybe having slows be extended by the amount of time spent dashing to compensate (for instance, If I have a long dash that takes 0.5 seconds to complete, the slow would resume its effects once the dash finished, effectively meaning that the slow only times out while moving by walking)

As far as I can tell, Kalista and Fizz E do get affected by slow.

How would this affect Lucian considering his dash removes slows, would it remove slows then dash or dash then remove?
