Why do AD champs get to life steal off of wards?

I once survived an ignite by lifestealing off a ward that the enemy placed before dying lol

For the same reason Wards have Attack Speed and no other stats.
Because wards are coded as minions. Not even kidding.
Wards are alive you know!
The purpose of wards is vision, plain and simple. This should not exist, especially given the hit health aspect rather than hitpoint health (pinks take 5 hits, don't have x hp, how much dmg do you do to a pink? it always equals one hit) also ward jumping really shouldn't exist either.
