So Nasus has a relatively safe lane phase and people go crazy

ChoGathsSon··15 votes·1,647 views

Nasus still has to farm in melee range for each CS, which is interaction because he's in melee range. His passive Lifesteal barely helps him early on, it's basically 5 HP back per auto on a champion who spends half of early lane phase getting zoned off creeps if the enemy laner has any idea what they're doing. He sustains more off of potions/HP regen from defensive masteries than he does with his passive until level 7, where he also needs some decent farm on his Q to start getting noticeable returns. And he gets farmed for what? To be kited/peeled into oblivion? To basically be nothing more than a split push bot, assuming he can even do it because his team is getting dove 5v4? And people lose their shit over this.

Meanwhile, mages can literally just by chalice and go double dorans and not interact at all, farm safely from 1000+ range and become teamfighting gods and nobody bats a fucking eye at this? Like honestly, I'm not making this up. Get into a lane with Ori, Ziggs, Azir, Xerath, etc and if they get out-traded once or are in fear they can't bully you, they just stand back from long range, don't interact at all and farm and scale up to teamfighting monsters. So why aren't people bitching about these champions being super safe with extremely powerful teamfights, waveclear and so on? Not to mention, mid lane is also the hardest lane to gank/dive because of short distance between towers and double towers while top lane is the easiest lane to camp/gank/dive by far.

I just don't understand how after 4 years of this play style where mages can just ignore their lane opponents and not interact at all and get massively farmed up and basically have gaurenteed scaling, nobody thinks this is a problem? But let a top laner who has to farm in melee range to scale up and has a pitiful teamfight and can only split push do this and people lose their shit. Do you not see the double standard here? How can you possibly not hold mages to the same standard given how hard they scale?

I'm pretty sure this will get downvoted by silver and bronze mage mains and told "hur infinite scaling duR." Nasus' infinite scaling is totally offset by the fact that his teamfight is garbage and mages can win teamfights just by pressing R while aoe gutting your entire team. Nasus' infinite scaling rarely gets to a point where the game was won because of nasus' Q farm alone, you're talking 2000+ bonus damage farmed where he'd be two shotting tanks or face tanking towers and one shotting them. That literally never happens and in order for Nasus to even face tank towers to take them with no minions waves, you're talking 900+ bonus damage with Trinity force, aka a 50 minute+ game. That rarely happens. So don't come in here acting like Nasus' infinite scaling wins as many games as mages who literally won't interact, press R and gib your entire team because it doesn't. It never has and it never will.

A diamond Nasus main made this thread, I am forced to +1.

Anyone that disagrees is just delusional and doesn't understand balance because they are low elo.

Don't backtalk your elders.

wa master 2 weeks ago trolled my self back to diamond 4 so i can play ekko in low elo and win like 20 games in row back to master for best ekko world according to lol skill. was 3# a while and top 10 for 2 months. i can say nasus has pretty saw lane vs a lot of champs. he i just prom to gnats pre 6. but after first back to get some cdr tankiness and some stacks he is really safe from level 6-9. nasus is okey as he is. good in low elo cause he makes bronzes to acutely get cs and farm to win. you can latterly win low elo games with only high elo farm

More like why do people complain about assassins while mages oneshot your entire team with 2 skills that have a 2 second cooldown.

If mages are one shotting your entire team you probably fed them extremely hard (and arent even itemizing correctly, either)

Can you give an example? I can't think of a mage who can 1 shot a whole team with one rotation. And I main Viktor, who is arguably the best at AOE Burst.

Yes, I can get an entire team down to half HP if I use my ultimate as well as my laser, then I can clean up with my Q and past that, I'm dead because I have no abilities to use.

You have zhonyas, to give you safety during CDs. You're already decently ranged. And you think taking an entire team to half HP is bad scaling or something? Nasus is lucky to take an enemy front liner down to half Hp as he gets kited/peeled easily. I don't mean mages literally one shot teams but they will literally take the HP bars down to half or below (if they catch a carry in their combo, they may very well one shot them). This is absurd scaling in its own right, nobody bats an eye at a champion basically having a free pass to this power?

If I Zhonya's, I'm also out of the fight. This is one reason some higher level pros don't always get Zhonya's, those are moments when you simply cannot use your abilities and be useful, and your opponents can easily set up for Zhonya's to end.

Also, flank. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with your post and love Nasus to death, but he does have some good pros. He does get kited a lot, but if you flank with him, your enemy team has 2 options, run towards the rest of your team, or run towards the egyptian god of death.

I get why Nasus is hated, and I don't really like it, but there's really no need to rag on mages either.

The biggest difference between mages and Nasus is this: Nasus has a lot of damage, and is super tanky. Mages have a lot of damage, and the consistency of paper.

Thank you, people don't hate Nasus because he can deal a lot of damage if he gets fed. They hate him because if he gets fed he can deal a lot of damage, take a lot of burst damage, and heal a lot sustained damage away. For the most part when anyone gets fed they can only do like one of those well, or two of them decently.

Lol

Just flank. You know that's hard to do when people Ward a ton? I don't disagree, flanking IS his best option and can be done. But it's never a sure thing. Mages pressing all their buttons, getting off a ton of burst, CC and utility always is.

And make no mistake, mages playing the zero interaction AFK wave clear from range and scale like a god game wouldn't bother me if people didn't lose their shit when champs like Nasus and Jax have decent laning phases. But they do and it's literally the same thing, yet it's ok when mages do it?

And don't give me that, mages are deceptively hard to kill because ap items double dip in so many stats, on top of having shields, cc etc. Plus they have the best defensive steroid in the game: range. And this patch has them especially durable because of liandrys/rylais. I'm not complaining about it either but it's true.

So can mages, what's your point?

Lugg1 votes

The point is that assassins being garbage is completely false. It's just a bunch of assassin mains claiming that they are weak so they can bring back the assassin meta for the freelo. Every assassin in the game other than Kass needs nerfed or reworked.

Aw, Troll Daddy. I should have known.

Here is some info for you. Mages that are banned above Nasus:

Chogath No surprise here, leads everyone in bans Ryze Getting nerfed, will drop off very soon Annie Another no surprise Azir Getting nerfed, will drop soon as well

Wow! That's it! Yeah, mages sure are OP.

But seriously, mages can sit back and farm, but Nasus can sit under his tower and farm all day as well. That is why I found your OP so amusing.

I find your argument amusing because nobody bans cho anymore, well, maybe in bronze V they do. And you're arguing ban rate as if it somehow has relevance to my argument anyway, which it doesn't. I'm not arguing that mages are OP, im pointing out there's a double standard with how bruisers safely farm vs mages safely farming while mages scale significantly better. So I'm glad you found my post anusing, you clearly aren't good at reading comprehension.

Yep, that's exactly how I was playing Lux on my 2nd Lux only account, if I ever felt like I couldn't kill them, I would literally sit under my tower and only move to press E and AA minions. Not only can mages farm from range with 0 interaction, they have safety nets that prevent them from being tower dove as well, such as CC, shields, aoe damage, or all of that in addition to the fact mid lane is really short and a ranged mage should only really ever die to a 2v1 dive.

Yea mages can just sit back and farm if they are unable to trade. Assassins are pressured to get kills, tanks are pressured to farm up at melee so they can buy defense items, ADC's have to constantly be worried about getting engaged on. Mages have the easiest time in lane.

Yes, squishy as in their items dip into HP, armor and MR while many of them are extremely long range and are never in danger of being dove in the first place. And I don't know if you knew this, so are assassins. Even Nasus melts fairly quickly late game once champions complete %pen items. Being squishy is relative to your safety of casting your spells, by that comparison alone, mages are literally the safest role in the game.

Gorgannan1 votes

Uh, yeah, he's kiteable.

Because lategame, he'd be the highest damage output melee in the game, comparable to Vayne and Kog.

I think most peoples problem comes from the fact that if you picked the wrong champ, you're fucked, and then he outscales you and everyone else. He can split push, he can teamfight, he can 1v1, and he can shred towers faster than Vayne can shred tanks.

How about this, Nasus's early game is press Q. Why should his late game be so rewarding when he doesn't really require any sort of mechanical skill?

Lane positioning, wave control, understanding match-ups as they vary heavily due to the fact you're melee and your power spikes are different with each opponent, using TP efficiently, etc. Sure, he doesn't require a great deal of mechanical skill but sorry darling, most mages don't either and they don't even have to consider the above as they just throw their keyboard at the wall to get CS. With the ease it takes to play Nasus mechanically, there's still a great deal of lane understanding and knowledge you have to have.

Make a course that teaches Bronze and Silver Solo Q players how to lane swap. Then again, you won't be able to play your favorite character if everybody just swaps him into a 1v2.
