How exactly does (or rather, does not) the minion Execute/Heal work with him? I'm thinking of making him the latest addition to my Zoo of Supports, but after trying him a few times vs. AI I just don't seem to be able to get to grips with it?
AgentBlack2 votesYou have to actually last hit the minion, unfortunately, which is hard even when your E is fully charged. And even if your ADC lets you do it consistently in lane phase, your teammates never will again, and you'll be gold-starved by late game. Just use go the Ancient Coin line until you're high elo and your team knows better.

AgentBlack1 votesUnderstandable, but unfortunately you're just hurting yourself trying to force Relic on Thresh. It only works with teammates who will consistently, throughout the game, let you get the procs, and last hitting as Thresh isn't easy in the first place.
Gibberwatt2 votesI like ancient coin line - I know you don't like it, but its better than trying to both harass with Flay, and hit minions with flay. You don't have to upgrade it that much, and can instead build some tanky items early to compensate for your added squish.
Doozku1 votesBasically you have to last hit the minion in order for the heal to proc. What I'd do is ping the cannon minion and a competent adc should let you last hit that. Ping Relic Shield if they don't understand and if they just don't know how to adc, tell them what relic shield does.
Deep Terror Nami1 votesIt's because his basic attacks are classified as ranged, and only melee attacks will proc the execute damage. You will still get the heal/gold share if you last hit. It's still good on him, you just have to practice last hitting; use the E passive stacking damage to help do that.
reaperteaser1 votesthe relic shield execute does not work with him since he is ranged, however the gold sharing passive and heal does if he manages to last hit the minion. his fully charged flay (e ability) aa should compensate for this, you just need to get the timing down.

Braum is different. I always go Relic on him. But Talisman gives you a nice amount of Armor too, and the Raptors cloak passive is very good on thresh for the increased mobility and MS, especially when seiging. And the active even more so.
RisenDarkKnight1 votesYou have to last hit properly, but it's not too hard with his E passive. Just ping the cannon minions and let your adc know you need to take them.
It does require some practice to use, but it is better than coin for laning phase since you get that extra tankiness early.
