How do I play Janna in lane?

Seriously now, how? if I get to the late game with JannaI usually win even if we lost lane because of how her shield's ad and ardent censer synergize with the adc at that point. but in lane - ffs I just feel useless. I usually just shield the damage thrown at my adc, her only poke is her autos which I can shield myself from them but it's just a waste if the adc needs it.. let's face it, Janna's poke is a joke, so it's either I win the lane because my adc is draven or cait and trades with the shield, or it's just becomes a lane were both of us just afk farm till they take our tower..
