Is Alistar too weak?

Don't get me wrong, he's good with all of his CC and all, but doesn't anyone feel like he's just too... tickle-y?

Maybe first you'll do some pretty significant damage, but after level 6, you just fall off and your abilities barely scrape their targets. There are just other supports who have as much CC as Alistar, but do SO much more damage along with that CC. Sort of makes him lackluster in comparison with, say, Malzahar, Sona, New Galio etc.

A little damage buff could be, you know... Good... Keep his early game damage the same, but just increase the "per ability level" damage.

Alistair is incredibly team dependent. He is a play maker but doesn't really offer anything but cc. His plays also require him to go all in. So he is more risky than most. He can peel but there are several that do that job better.

Other supports as you said offer cc and damage. Or cc/sustain/shields and more damage. Or they synergize better with the new items and masteries.

He's still fun and works in some comps. Just not that great in soloq maybe.

Patch comes, patch goes. In the damage meta he was pretty strong since the team killed everybody during the 1 sec knock-up time. Now he is pretty weak since damage is much lower. I collected a couple of S with him before but not anymore. Switch something else until he comes back.

I don't think that more damage is the solution since it'll just have him being used in other lanes. His issue is with ranged support poke. He can't sustain through it anymore like he used to and it pretty much makes him walking gold 15g per hit for the support. His level 6 is still very strong but in the current meta his early game is lack luster and usually gets negated by the cs advantage his enemy gets.

He can become very tanky with his ult, which is something that a lot of tank supports struggle with because of their low income and build path.

because Alistar's combo is completely unmissable on top of him getting one of the best tank steroids in the game

no, he shouldn't have good damage scaling into any stage of the game
