Is there any actual justification for having buffed lux?

Or did Riot just want to sell more star guardian skins? Cause she was fine last patch (52.5% win rate), and now she's >55% win rate.

EDIT: wow, someone went through and downvoted everything? You can't hide your freelo

Let's be real, Lux didn't need to be strong for me to get that skin. But yeah, I'm not sure why they decided to buff her. It's not a huge buff, but it does seem a little odd.

yeah, it's a good skin. I don't play lux much and I bought it

The only reason I can see is that they wanted her to see pro play. (She's been pretty fringe up to this point.)

Because G&B kept asking for Lux buffs.

Hell there were several threads of people circle jerking about how much they loved the new skin, but wouldnt buy it because ''Muh E mana cost is too high''

To sell more Lux skins is the correct answer. Her last skin didn't sell as well as Riot wanted.

I think most mid lanes prefer xerath to lux. With about the same utility as lux, but with more range, and more dmg, Xerath is more common in higher ELO. Might have something to do with that.

I'm 100% sure the skin had nothing to do with it though.

I'd say that Xerath actually has a lot less utility than Lux. He has a skillshot CC, but it's only half as effective as Lux's, and his slow is a lot shorter, weaker, and smaller than Lux's. Her shield also doesn't really have a match from Xerath. Xerath does bring a lot more damage, though, and I think that's where his strength is, not in his limited utility.

Lux always had a higher pick-rate than Xerath.

Anytime something happens that G&B dislikes: So Riot are you making a sweet profit off that skin you released a month ago??? :-)

Nobody who is buying RP in LoL is going to be spending money on a FOTM pick they're abusing in solo queue. That's really stupid since patches only last a few weeks, and that's something that has never been backed up by any proof. Raise your hand if you would spend 10 dollars on a skin because they got buffs that pushed them into a very high win rate for one patch.

I wish you all would think a little more about that.

That's hardly the issue. The issue is them buffing a champ that was already above 50%. That is downright retarded. In no game would you ever look at a anything with above 50% winrate and say "lets buff this"

I cannot be the only person who rolls their eyes at the dumb skin sales conspiracy theories.

Let's be clear, she got a buff to her Q last patch. Specifically mana cost reduction on Q, and same damage applied to second snared target. Yeah she didn't need it, but nobody out there right now looked at the patch notes and was like, "Wow, I need to buy that Star Guardian Lux skin because they buffed Lux when she was already preforming well." That's not even the ability a lot of Lux mains want buffed.

If anything, that would discourage me from spending 10 dollars if I was thinking about it. Unless you're Ahri, that's not a good sign that you're preforming that well and you can normally expect incoming nerfs, or at the very least reverted buffs.

People have been crying for Lux buffs for a long time now. All their complaints, though, have been about her E. Considering that it provides vision, an AoE slow, and damage when reactivated I feel justifies its high mana cost. In terms of utility I rate it up there with Nasus E. I feel because she could endlessly spam it before the mana regeneration nerfs, people who can't adjust to it can't play her now. I've even mentioned before in some threads that if you have such a big problem with mana sustain, that they should take mana regeneration runes instead, but they downvoted me and said they needed more AP -_-.

She wasn't being picked enough. It's Riot's determination whether a champion is in need of attention or not. They can't accept the fact that underplayed champions are underplayed because there are other more superior picks. Instead they buff her so she's just as superior as the other superior picks. I can guarantee that instead of reverting her buffs, they're going to nerf her in awful ways in the future.

Idk but she is just bullshit lol u can't assassinate her you can't poke her you can't focus her lol she's to safe for an immobile mid laner imo

Utility mages were ruling mid lane in competitive play, yet Lux was strangely absent. Her buffs were most likely meant to help shake up the game before Worlds.

ABlueQuaker1 votes

Nope. People just cried enough for it to happen. Her E still has 130 mana cost, though, so Morello's is still not viable on her if you want to do more than a couple of spell rotations in a teamfight.
