Unpopular opinion, you should be required to maintain a 50% wr to stay in your elo (plat+)

If you're in an "above average elo" your winrate should reflect that. \If you're in an elo and not doing well, yes loss streaks happen but im talking about CONSISTENTLY under 50% wr in a span of weeks. You should demote, or have the warning trigger of demoting if it doesn't get fixed. There's simply no reason to have a negative win rate in plat+. (We can even make it diamond+ if you want) There's absolutely no justification of "i don't consistently win HALF my games but im in above average elo" It simply doesn't make any sense for that. It doesn't really apply to lower elos because there's nothing reflected through win rate there. Just baffles me being in games with diamonds and they have a 48% wr in diamond in a span of 500 games or more.

You already do demote if you constantly play with negative wr. Eventually your lp losses will outweight your gains and you will demote.

and on the other side, if you win more then half (theoretically) you will peak at your highest rank because you should always gain more lp for a win then loss (even tho thats not true in every case (thanks riot))

also side note, it is possible to gain ranks at anything above like 45% win rate, for the same reason.. you might lose 21 points on a loss, win 2 in a row and get 18 points in 1 and 24 points in the other, then so on and so forth like that always recovering slightly more then you lose

maybe play ranked before complaining about their lp system

He did for the past 4 seasons, just not this one. Similar to me. I don't like playing ranked because playing the promo to gold against high gold + plat is fucking stupid.

there are many reasons i gave up ranked, mostly i just cant be bothered to try all the time.. i like to troll in games and have a little fun and in ranked you get crucified by your team for doing so

Mortismo1 votes

yea no shit, you troll and lose people lp = you get flamed

I Like Teemo1 votes

dont need to play ranked to read what people post on the boards, i know there are a lot of people out there that win like 50-55% of games and dont gain ranks simply because a win gives them 20 or so points and loss takes away 26

its all about where your rank is, vs your estimated mmr

ps: not complaining, just felt like explaining to op they arent 100% accurate in saying "you should be required to maintain a 50% wr to stay in your elo (plat+)" simply because you can climb with sub 50% win rates

no it fucking doesnt, if you believe half the shit the goons on these boards post, get some better source. people on these boards are so hardstuck and look for any excuse to get them more lp. Bad teams, i dont get enough lp, trolls, afks

What in the fuck? Have you ever even played ranked? If you're gaining 20 points for a win, you will lose around 17. If you're losing 26 per loss, then you're probably gaining something like 14 LP per win. You can think of 19 being a mid point. If you're gaining 19 points per win then you will lose around the same per loss which means your MMR and rank are matched. Please don't talk about something if you have no experience with it.

fact of the matter is, it is still possible to lose more games then you win, and climb irregardless of the exact number but yea if 17-26 is more accurate then so be it

If you're losing more than you're winning then you're not actually climbing. That is an illusion. Your MMR will be dropping more than it's rising. What will happen is that over time your LP gains will be going down and down until you're losing more LP per loss than you're winning per win and if you're still losing more games that you win, that drop will accelerate very quickly.

The only way to cheat the system is reach your desired rank while your LP gains are massive and then stop playing ranked altogether.

i dont mean like 30% win rates, more so like you play 1000 games, win 490 and lose 510, you should have gained lp as a total, you probably would gain maybe 1 rank but you shouldn't lose rank either

but i do agree that while thats not necessarily "climbing" but if your the kind of person op is talking about where you have been plat for an eternity and you are only barely able to hold a near 50%, i dont think you should be punished for that

Actually these kind of stats are of someone who is hard stuck which means this person has reached their actual rank. What general happens with someone with a record like 490-510 is that they bound between 2 divisions. For example, if I max out on my skill at Gold 3 then I will be bouncing between Gold 3 and Gold 4 repeatedly. I won't climb or fall beyond those two divisions.

That happened to me twice on this account:- https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=vbniya

The first time, I was trying to main jungle. The account started in Silver 2 with massive LP gains. I played a bunch of jungle games until I fell all the way to Bronze 3. Eventually I levelled off at Bronze 1/Silver 4. I hovered between those two ranks until I eventually gave up and went back to Top lane. Owing to me being better at Top lane, I was able to climb a bit higher however, I eventually got hard stuck again at Silver 3. I climbed to and got demoted from Silver 2 well over 2 dozen times before I made some changes to the way I was playing which improved my gameplay a bit and I was finally able to climb all the way to Gold. The stats on that account as of this post is 538 wins to 438 losses and I presently earn something like 15 LP per win and lose 20 per loss. This is what an account looks like when someone gets hard stuck at any point during a climb.

no, you get more lp on wins than what you lose

Of course typical boards members talkin shit about things they dont know.

There are diamond and master players who statistically lose more than they win but they stay in that elo. on top of that, many players can play a decay game once a month and stay in the elo despite having a negative wr.

Dude, that's how it actually is...
