I'd rather go against an S tier champ every game over yasuo once in a while

Like I know this is beating a dead horse but I am so tired of banning him. Even more tired when an ally hovers him, doesn't get him and now we have to play against one. And oh? The ally who is now against them, doesn't make him 0/7? Well guess what now he's gonna make all of you suffer with his very intensive, interactive and fun gameplay! I'm tired of riot not addressing champions that are "fun to play" and "antifun to play against" I know you can't make every champ fun and fair to play against with every single person, but i'd say roughly a quarter if not more who's gone against a competent yasuo finds dealing with him is unfair. Tired of the bullshit conqueror offers him. (gee true damage on top of more true damage, how fun :)) Tired of windwall, id forgive it as it has such a long cd if he didn't just dash at you every 0.2 seconds in your own minions. (Get fucked mages/immobile champs in general) And honestly all of this I would find BEARABLE. if the champ didn't get to rush an offensive item that literally deletes ap users out of the game while healing him item 3091 Could you imagine a yasuo going wits, mercs , hex with null orb secondary? You'd get destroyed and you'd deal negative damage. I'm just tired of these bruiser builds for him that make squishy skirmishers into tough bruisers that you cant kill but they can burst you. See: Irelia. If you want him to be a bruiser, I don't want to see him mid ever again. Bruisers don't belong mid! Karma with ibg doesn't need to exist! Klepto on ranged should be halved like every other melee/ranged counterpart! Thank u for coming to my rant. Feel free to discuss or mass downvote.

I like Irelia, but +1. It's pretty wild how Yasuo has been the most hated champ in this game for ages and they've done nothing to reduce the frustration.

I'm just a salty bitch about dealing with irelia mid tbh. But yeah I agree

The main difference is his Windwall Id say. If you play lets say Lux mid into Irelia, you can actually call your jungler for help, and if she overextends, you snare her, combo her, and with jungler help its a kill, cause she has no escape. But Yasuo? If he overxtends, well he doesnt, hes gonna put his Windwall in your face, and you cant do shit and even have to worry about him turning the gank around on your jungler sometimes. Against Irelia, I feel like you can do stuff - dodge her E, counterpick (dps champs like Jax usually win, Malph, Fiora), or at the very least CC her. If you catch her in the jungle, with no passive up, no minions around, all you need to do is the dodge the E and she can not get max stacks, so shes essentially a free kill later in those (admittably rare) situations. Yasuo though doesnt have downtimes. He doesnt have really bad, near unwinnable matchups. If you play a ranged champ, you might as well go afk. Youre playing Nami supp, and you and your adc did well in lane but the enemy team has a fed Yasuo that can negate your entire kit with just one spell? Best feeling ever. Against Yasuo, I frequently feel like I can do absolutely nothing against him, no matter what I play, cause he outscales almost everything. Do you see those "dont FF at 20 minutes just cause your 1 kill down" topics everywhere? Well those are about me, playing a ranged champ vs Yasuo. I never felt that bad when playing vs Irelia, not even at release. Even in the late game - if theres a Yasuo, he pretty much forces you to play around him. If hes left unchecked, he will delete your team.

With an Yasuo in the game it feels like the entire game revolves around him and nothing else matters (the only other champ who also does that is Kayle imo, but Kayle doesnt have a Windwall)...

Because poster boy can't get fixed or the neckbeards/10 year olds would bitch about it and quit the game.

Facethewind the most infuriating noise in league of legends, either yasuo feels how trash the spell is as he eats a AurelionSol ult Chogath Q and W and his team gets instagibbed during the cc duration, OR Twitch R is completely nullified along with Vladimir 's healing being "interrupted and destroyed" >.> yea fun spell

Yasuo, like many of CertainlyT's creations, can't be balanced. He has too many things going on in his kit, too many different things to try and balance that there are and will only ever be two states that he exists in. Too strong, to the point of being broken and instabanned every game, or not actually good, but still so annoying to play against that people will ban anyway because they hate him.

It's not good design, and CertainlyT needs to actually take a hard look at some of the things he's made. Zoe was just ridiculous. Nobody enjoys getting nuked from off screen because they were tagged with an ability that in most cases is easier to land than the skillshot factor would have you believe.

I mostly agree but, in my experience, if someone fails so often in doing his job, maybe he shouldn't do that job anymore.

I partially agree, again.

His champions are often popular both because "fun", and broken. But, they are fun only for those who play them. Who play against them will probably be less likely to buy any skin, or even more likely to quit. I'm pretty sure that overloaded champions, and "dropped" ones on the other side, are one of the main reasons why the playerbase has got this low now.

And the less the players, the less the skins sold..

I'd agree, but Yasuo only has 5 skins, if that was the REAL job, they should've made the same champ but given her boobs, THEN they'd sell a ton of skins. That said, Yasuo is the DUMBEST champion for one reason: I used to ban this champ all the time because either the opponent would be too strong on him OR banning Yasuo makes the player that wanted to play him tilt all to hell and it's "easy win", because all the weeb edgelords go nuts if they can't play fake kenshin. The big problem is when the weeblords are on my team, because if your ally hovers Yasuo you're 90% boned. If he's banned you get exactly what I just detailed. If he's NOT banned, either the enemy team gets him and smashes you or your Yasuo player is somehow a moron that is gonna feed 5 kils and then afk/ragequit because his Naruto fantasy isn't happening. And god help you if your own team bans Yasuo when the edgelord wants to play him (whether they hover it or not)

Nah, Kai'sa is new so she doesn't have a lot of skins (and one of hers is a Team skin, so ... not really applicable IMO). She needs time to prove she's at all like: Ahri Akali Lux Katarina

Erm, Ornn is older and still only has his release skin. A large number of champs only have 1 new skin since release. This whore has only been out a year and is now getting her 5th skin if you don't count prestige.

I hate Yasuo as much as you tbh. Feels bad to come out of lane 8-2 and end up losing solely because of some 100% crit bs. Like I have no issue laning vs him mid. Talon literally ruins him. What frustrates me is his lack of counter play while playing marksmen. Doesn’t matter which adc I seem to play I just get ruined by him. Specially on champs like Miss Fortune where he can literally block one of the biggest team fight changing ultimates.

The passive crit is bs. The passive shield is bs. Him being able to ult any knocked up enemy even if he doesn’t knock said person up is bs. His wand wall is bs. His dashes on minions are bs.

I’d just love if any of these things could be nerfed. I have returned to perma banning Yasuo while I’m anywhere but mid because once he is fed there is literally close to no counterplay.

Haze972 votes

I hate the lack of counterplay while playing anything which isn't Jax, Fiora, or Tryndamere into him.

It doesn't matter how many times yous hut him down. He'll build two items which cost less than most bruiser items and still play like a bruiser after 20 mins by getting in your face and hacking you down in both, short bursts and extended trades alike.

There's no shutting him down for long because of that double crit passive.

Doesn't matter if you ruin him early on Talon (which shouldn't be happening if the Yasuo has a single brain cell, since he can windwall your entire ult and W, and poke you down with tornadoes while using E to dash away from return rake).

Yasuo will go to a side lane at 0/7, get statik shiv, bloodthirster, PD, alsongside zerker boots and proceed to outheal your sorry ass while 3 shotting you later on.

I don't even understand how they can allow bloodthirster and death's dance or even IE to exist as it is. With ravenous hunter and statikk shiv, he gains so much healing in lane alone because his Q triggers ravenous hunter on multiple minions. It's ridiculous coupled with his passive shield and shield from ult.

Didn't CertainlyT once say that he hated laning against Yasuo and Thresh, ironically his own champion creations, but liked them thematically?

The guy is designing champions that even he himself doesn't like to play against.

That doesn't surprise me at all. The whole design philosophy of this guy is "making the champion fun... for the player that controls it". I have the feeling that most of his champions belong in a P v E enviroment because they have no counterplay at all.

Terozu14 votes

the worst part about Yasuo is that, he isn't strong, he isn't broken, he isn't hard to fight.

He's just not worth the effort and frustration.

Luther King Jr V5 votes

hes broken tho its ok to admit that the community will call u bad but it's the truth

abca984 votes

I mean, I can play "dodge the tornado and don't get close to the minions simulator" every 6 seconds for the first 20 minutes of the game, followed by "don't even think about figththing because he will do more damage than you" and then "stay away from every knockup they have if you don't want to lose the game in 3 seconds".

But when you have to do it every match, because everybody can play him, it gets boring.

Thilmer11 votes

Yasuo has been needing a full rework since his reléase because his whole kit is stupidly overloaded and should have been completely changed during his designing process.

The only reason we have the actual Yasuo is because he is a CertainlyT champion and that guy is allowed to design unbalanced bullshit for some reason.

Madsin256 votes

Let's try to keep in mind yas is being spammed in LCS for the first time that I can remember.

Haze974 votes

Exactly this.

Either move him top if you want him to play like a bruiser, or cut down on his sustain if you want him to play like an assassin.

Riot needs to pick one.

No matter how people hate Yasuo, I do hate him, but I despise Irelia more.

Remember all the nerfs on Yasuo which has not been too questionable, but that Irelia's 5ms nerf? OMEGALUL

Thefrostyviking2 votes

They did eventually nerf her more though.

And at the present in diamond+ Yasou has like twice the banrate of Irelia, other stats are pretty much the same or very close.

Evidently he is the worse of the two even up there? :P

NelsieLisnen2 votes

CertainlyT has blessed my life with most of my favorite champs. Your argument is null and void :P. Seriously though, I think it's just people being averse to playstyles that are clashing with how THEY want to play the game. I mean if you main immobile mages you might as well complain the same about stuff like Ekko, Fizz, AP Galio. Bard mains might complain about how a thresh or a pyke can trash their lanes and how unfun it is to play against them. Melee top mains will complain about Tahm Kench top and top Tahm mains will complain about Vayne top. It's just a vicious cycle. It's a built in characteristic of every MOBA game. Some matchups will suck to play against because you have to play them very carefully and strategicaly, but that is also the matchup's win condition.

Haze978 votes

Each and every one of the complaints you mention is jutified.

Fizz mid is cancer, Tahm top is cancer, Vayne top is cancer, AP Galio was cancer but has now been gutted to the ground (yet again) unlike Yasuo.

NelsieLisnen1 votes

Some notes:

  • Fizz mid is amazingly easy for some champs and they are not even top tier.
  • Tahm is oppressive but most laners he auto counters scale far better than him and have a chance to do so if they play safe
  • Vayne top is annoying into melees but you can bait her condemn and then engage with your jungle to destroy her easily
  • AP galio is STILL very strong into certain matchups. Legend says every time you pick mid Galio a Katarina main quits.

Anyway bottom line is, I don't subscribe to the notion that every matchup should be a perfect balance of mechanical skill. Being able to recognize that a certain matchup favors the enemy in terms of trading and that you need to play reserved is also an element of skill and situational awareness. Nailing the strategy required to win the game despite such a match-up is also a satisfying play imo. This kind of partial imbalance is an element in most strategy games. Let's not forget, Lol is such a game, in which multiple pawns work together to achieve a goal. Just because a unit is strong in 1v1 situations doesn't mean it's stronger in the grand scheme. Does any chess player complain because Queen is OP af and pawns can't 1v1 her? Cheers.

StaySaltyBaby2 votes

Its not his mechanics that piss you off, its his insanely broken healing with his runes. Ive had a 40 minute game with yas and reached like 10k healing and was 0/3 at 8 minutes. Also just play twisted fate against him and fake out your gold card for his windwall and then throw it. TF is his biggest counter imo. Or just survive with Diana till 6.

abca984 votes

How do you fake gold card? Serious question.

pull out gold card. press S to stop, and watch a good yas throw out wall. then throw.

As a Yasuo main I would agree to some extend with what you said until you brought up Yasuo rushing wits end with mercs + hex with sorcery second LOL. That statemend just shows how little you know about Yasuo and your skill level no offense.

It was more so for the theory craft. He has the ability to do so. And quite literally negate all ap damage by doing so. And nice meme saying my skill level is low. Many high elo yasuos if for whatever reason aren't stomping lanes can go wits and just auto win. Not gonna tell you my main's rank but just know that im coming from a place of top 3% of the playerbase, don't try me

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH brain damaged.

BlackEyesBlue1 votes

Just give him mana. Lot's of champs have 3 bars now. And don't listen to the he people who say "Thats a buff b/c Manamune!" So now he would actually be the late game champ he's supposed to be and would have to choose between rushing tear and zeal. This has never been as complicated as Yas fans want you to think ot is.

For the record, I personally feel ALL CHAMPIONS should have mana. Even energy is BS in early laning.

The Taco Kat1 votes

Energy has its benefits and its downsides. For example, energy champions usually have added strength in their laning through that great sustain and above average damage and mobility, but they also can only use one spell rotation before being near irrelevant in a teamfight.

Manaless champions tend to be very gated by cooldowns early on, but Yasuo admittedly gets very spamable very quickly as a result of attack speed lowering his Q cooldown. I personally don't have too much of an issue with Yasuo, but if they touch anything, I'd nerf that first. It'll weaken his laning a bit. Compensate for his late game scaling by lowering the cooldown in Q a bit at later ranks.

Basically, that'd slow down his pushing power a bit and also reduce the amount of tornadoes you'll need to dodge early on, and missing Q will be more detrimental.

I don't particularly like the "[blank] doesn't belong in [blank] role" argument much...perhaps it's just cause I'm old fashioned and remember when you can play damn near anybody in any role (the lone exception being supports, who needed someone with them) and have a fun and interactive game.

But I will back your argument that there are several champions right now, across multiple roles, that are very cookie-cutter, copy/paste champions whose very kits are overshadowed by their choice of runes and items. Zed and Yasuo make that list, as does the majority of meta "flex picks" at the moment. When the reason you're a flex pick has less to do with your kit being decent against a large variety of enemies, and more to do with that champion being so good at abusing a particular set of runes + items that they can play the same strat anywhere, that rune/item setup is quite simply too consistent. And either the runes need to change, or the items need to change, in order to make that champion's weaknesses actually mean something again.

I'd like to address this. I am fine with champions going wherever they want. Hell I go non meta shit like ap mf support and syndra support etc. But it comes to a point where if it's just unhealthy game design it needs to be fixed.

So here's my idea, everyhwhere yasuo dashes create's windwall for like.. 0.75 seconds

his windwall gets replaced with an activatable timed shield with a cast time.

crit functionality replaced with like. Crit% increases HP % or something instead of double crit chance. thus to get value from it people would have to either not 100% crit or would have to build no lifesteal.
