A melee champion for a new player?

I am an ADC main. In fact I've reached level 12 (that isn't a lot I know, but I did start the game 2 months ago) all the way by just using an ADC champion. The reason was it was easy for me to pick up this role as most of the ADCs are marksmen. They can attack from a range and yet still be safe. Though they have a low health pool, it can be easily made up by using the right armors and what not. However, as I started progressing, I started to notice many new players chose ranged champions. Have a lot of ADCs in a team is not a good thing. So I decided to go for another role. I don't like support because I am terrible at it. Even at MMORPGs I never chose a support class because I was unable to concentrate on both buffing or healing my teammates and attacking the opponents. Tanks are really slow and they tend to fight at really short ranges. So which champion do you think would be the best. Currently I have 3000 IP. Which one should I get and few tips would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

To add on to what AyRe CoNteMpT said about Garen: You can even get Garen and his Dreadknight skin for free by following the League of Legends Twitter page!

If you like playing bot lane you may want to pick up Mordekaiser since he's able to play in a duo lane instead of your usual Marksman.

If you get the hang of him you can also play him top lane and to some extent mid but know that he's still being tweaked after having gotten a really controversial rework.

Still, great fighters are Garen, Darius, Jax, Irelia and maybe even riven if you want to be a damage threat or tanks like Nautilus, Maokai, Sion and so on if you want to give your team tons of utility.

Garen is good, yes. Other choices are Master Yi (high damage, movespeed ult) and Olaf (has a ranged ability, movespeed ult). Teemo is a good ranged top laner, though is squishy.

Taric

Since you're an adc, you are also maybe familiar with the support role? (maybe not at level 12).

Anyway, he's great as support, pretty good solo lane, and helps you understand mechanics. It's who I started on. Still have a soft spot for him.

Amumu Garen Gragas DrMundo Jax Rammus Taric Warwick Tryndamere

Fairly easy champions to get into, with only 2 or 3 actual skillshots. Great opportunity to tate your ability rotations as well with Jax Gragas Tryndamere .

Echoing Garen. He's easy to play, very forgiving of mistakes, and quite strong right now. Also, you can get him for free.

Shyvana would be another good pick, but she's quite weak in the top role currently. She does better in the jungle.

You could also look into Tryndamere.

Once you've mastered playing any of the above, then you might consider an assassin like Master Yi or Katarina. They do a ton of damage, but are extremely fragile, so playing them will teach you when and who to engage on in team fights. They're not as forgiving as other melees.

Darius.

He is OP as all hell and will be a good starting melee champion for you.

That or Garen but Darius is even stronger than Garen.

Irelia Azir

You'd never want any other champ again.

i would absolutely recommend you to play garen because he is one of the strongest toplaners (if not THE strongest) and he is extremely cheap (500 ip?) so even if you dont like him too much after a couple of games, you didnt waste all your ip.

other really fun and cool and strong melee champions are shyvana and volibear. these are the champs i play the most.

I'll say Garen again, despite everyone else saying it. He really is the beginner's melee champion.

Other melee champions with easy mechanics are Xin Zhao, Tryndamere, Taric (although he's up next for a full rework, so don't get too used to his kit. And he can be played top lane and not just a support), Blitz (if you can hit skillshots, can be played top lane), and Kench (although he is probably getting nerfed in the near future).

I agree with Garen. He's quite easy to pick up and has a decent engage.

Shyv and Voli are two others i would agree with.

Perhaps Shen? He has some good engages and his ult is quite helpful in helping your team.

Mundo is quite fun as well.
