Vayne was buffed and her WR% tanked

Vayne was Buffed and her WR tanked. What gives guys? She is objectively more powerful then the previous patch but went from around 50%WR to 44% in Diamond+

On the other hand her pick rate doubled and her ban rate has tripled.

Sure seems like Pick/ban rates are a better indication of power level.

It may have went down in Diamond+, but it did go up in everything below Diamond except for Bronze.

So.......

That makes winrate sound even more unreliable. Do you think winrate is reliable? If so how? It feels too random.

As the only way to gauge how powerful a champ is, yes, it is extremely unreliable.

It is simply the best option we have. Riot has many more dials and whatnot that they watch to gauge how powerful a champ is that they don't reveal to us, or give us the tools to view......for whatever reason (probably because they want us to figure out the game for ourselves). This is why websites like Lolalytics use not only win rate, but pick rate, ban rate, the champ's winrate at specific times in the game, winrate in specific roles, etc.

It all still works off of win rate, but just gives a more detailed picture.

It's really not though. Pick/bans are stats that are effected by champ strength. One's that happen to be much more accurate. I'm just simply point out a data point in that argument.

Pick ban is awful, since pick ban takes into account fun-ness. Yas, for example, has not been op (outside of a few broken item patches) for a long time. His pick ban is huge. His windwall is unfun to play against, and that dominates the stat, not his strength.

I don't when the last time someone cited lower then Plat+ when talking about WR% for balancing purposes.

It may not affect balancing as much, but it still says something.

It says nothing, people think wrongly that it does. Basically no correlation between WR and Champ strength.

That means teams devote their concentrated effort to boxing her in when she's selected. And dodge some games where the synergies look like they are going to get her carried up to her potential. Something people who are not on coordinated teams of people who frequently play together don't do.

(Diamond + Talent pool is pretty small, so players generally know each other's names, playstyles, and know if they can shut this down together. In Silver you're talking about 15-16 million players randomly assigned together, so these synergies never develop other than a Duo)

let it balance. people pick her who never played her, play in weird roles, etc..

So you're saying Win rate is unreliable indication of champ strength. Glad we agree.

when the patch is brand new yes.. not after a couple months.

I mean by default you usually cant get anything with just the winrate of only one day of a patch.

Its like taking oddball rumors or leaks with a grain of salt.

Idk why you guys judge a champion by winrate. Look at the stats, not the random winrate or whatever. Maybe only a few unexperienced groups are now playing her. Maybe getting banned so much(and she should) affects how many people get to play her and affects winrate. I feel that winrate is an unreliable way to judge a champions effectivness.

She blew up in lower elos, taking into account people that can actually play her.

Besides, her buff has just been released, let's wait a bit before making assumptions, ok?

ODiiiiiN1 votes

you wanna talk about win rates after half a day of the patch being released? dumb.

Lhuhz1 votes

Wait more days, we have literally seen less than 24h of this patch.
