Guys, runes haven't even been out for a week. Of course things are going to be busted.

This is preseason here. It's expected that things are going to be busted. Once the patches start coming through, toning runes and such things should go back to normal (whatever normal may be these days). Preseason is basically a beta for the next season.

I for one welcome all these new changes. Sure, things are more snowbally but I think fast-paced games are fun. Plus, there's a high chance the game's state won't stay like this for long. Once season 8 comes around things should be okay.

All I've got to say, is that people made logical arguments for why the malzahar rework made his balance even more difficult and it ended up making it even more difficult. Though they were dismissed by people saying that it was too new and it would be adjusted.

People have made logical arguments for why the new rune system is going to be the root of constantly more problems than the old system, and they're being dismissed by people saying that they're new and will be adjusted.

Some designs simply make it impossible to iron out one flaw without creating another.

This must be your first pre-season. The vast majority of broken shit has rolled through into the season in every single pre-season so far, and often doesn't get fixed until half way into the season.

Also needs to be kept in mind in the idea of snowballing, is that we don't have enough experience to know how to deal with champions correctly yet. There is a lot of new stuff, and while some of it is pretty fricking dumb, looking at you Tempo, this is just the same as if a champion got released or reworked. It's not exactly apt to bust down the doors and start demanding fixes, when we don't know just how much is due to human error.

You're putting way too much faith in Riot. You do remember how long it took for them to appropriately deal with Ardent Censer, right? Blade of the Ruined King? Crit itemization? Oh wait, that one still isn't addressed because they went through with preseason changes and opted to look at it even later.

Next up is when the professional scene starts again and they choose not to ruffle the feathers there by not working on out of line balancing issues.

They say that of course things will be unbalanced. The problem isn't in that. It's their track record of actually dealing with things because they are so vastly out of touch.

One thing to remind people of, as well:

After really big changes, the game is bound to be more snowbally for a while. Big changes tend to tweak the established patterns at how to counteract snowballing on top of changing how the game is played.

Thus, players are not only learning how to play WITH the new rules, but also how to effectively play AGAINST them - and the latter can only be done once both you and your opponent have learned to play with them. Thus, snowballing.

Why shouldn't they be? Isn't the PBE supposed to iron out the mayor inbalance we are facing now?

It doesn't take thousand and thousand of games to come to the conclusion damage is to high. Or that lethality + electrocute is broken (As it deals adaptive damage, so it can benefit from lethality). No, just playing 5 games would already lead to this conclusion.

People won't stop complaining from day 1, until Riot stops pushing out extremely obvious broken stuff.

Agreed. There is a 2.5 month buffer before next season starts to allow for the adjustments to be made. If the next season was starting in a month, then I would be among the crowd with my dick in a knot over all these OP runes. I definitely have faith that they will be more balanced when the next season actually comes. But please, for the love of god, stop making hate posts about the runes. Give actual suggestions and the feedback Riot wants to hear. This will help balance things and communicate what we want so much better.

Yeah, sure.

So riot should fix it ASAP. That’s an observation, not an excuse.

xelaker11/9/2017, 3:02:45 PM2 votes

There's no excuse for every single thing riot puts out to be busted, they have the PBE to use as a good source of testing and have internal resources to see these things coming. Incompetence is the reason here.

I know it's preseason, but the changes are so damn big, it doesn't feel the same anymore. Old builds can't be done anymore. Not even a matter of imbalance-they simply don't exist!

Why do we have to make the main game mode faster paced than it is? Games take under 30 minutes, often only 20 or so as is. Other modes exist for those who want it fast-ARAM, and TT. Why do you have to bring your fast-paced games into the main mode? I sincerely miss the old days, years ago, when game lengths of 45 minutes were the norm. 3 diverse stages of play in almost every game (unless one side was COMPLETELY superior to the other), strategy felt like a bigger part-not just getting one lane (usually bot now) fed and stomping down mid.

I'mnot mad 'cause it's busted. I'm mad because the numbers are so high, they should've KNOWN it'd be WAY busted. and, it's WAY busted.

Of course they are going to be busted: there seems to be an unwritten taboo against playtesting balance changes.
