Understanding Ashe's Passive

so after playing a round with Ashe i began to look into her passive a bit more. her passive, Frost Shot, makes it so her crits do no extra damage. that sucks yes but if we read it in depth it says that enemies hit become Frosted for 2 s and all attacks done to Frosted enemies become mini crits doing 1.1X damage. however this can be increased with crit items. so say add item 3085 it becomes 1.4X. so how does this interact with item 3031 ? well lets look at a math problem. we'll use 100 as the base dmg.

Normal crit: (dmg X 2) / 10 = 20 true dmg and 180 crit dmg. Ashe crit: dmg / 10 = 10 true dmg and 90 crit Ashe crit vs Frosted enemy: (dmg X 1.1) / 10 = 11 true dmg and 109 crit dmg.

so while her crits do no extra dmg on their own they still count as crit dmg so item 3031 passive does trigger. how does it work with item 3095 ? i do not know yet. the first shot that triggers SR will Frost the enemy, meaning they were not frosted before, and only do non-Frosted crit dmg. and the Frost only lingers for 2 sec so you can't idle long enough to let SR recharge and shoot the Frosted target.

you're better off building frozen mallet at that point. it's cheaper

Ashe has negative interaction with crit, making her simply bad. Its always been like that. IMO frost shot needs to be reverted and flurry should become her new passive.

Make rangers focus her passive again, but make it work so that she gains stacks when she attacks enemies... and at maximum stacks her next basic attack against an enemy champion grants her massive attack speed (20-110%) after 1.5 seconds for up to 3 seconds, up to 6 if she attacks an enemy champion.

if you look at details Ashe basically has free mini crits vs Frosted targets so even if you dont build any crit items you still do 1.1X dmg and just gets higher with crit items. i do not know the cap though. i assume 100% making her mini crits do 2.1X vs Frosted champs. i know almost every Ashe players builds item 3085 making her mini crits 1.4X so she doesn't have negative interaction with crits she just has a different interaction with crits aside from straight increased dmg.

She doesnt get bonus damage when she naturally crits. Just the stronger slow - thats a negative crit interaction. Its one of the reasons why ashe never bought more than 50% crit; it was a massive damage decrease.

Passive: Frost Shot. "spells and attacks slow targets down by X% for 2 seconds. attacks against enemies with Frost Shot deal 110% ( aka 1.1X) +X% damage. (increases with crit modifier)

Ashe's crit strikes deal no extra damage but instead increase the slowdown to X%, decaying overtime"

so with no crit items attacks vs Frosted targets are mini crits doing 1.1X damage + .1 for every 10% crit bonus. so she still crits just doesn't crit properly.

You dont seem to understand what im saying. Ashe doesnt crit normally - instead of dealing 200% crit damage per crit she just slows. Her CRITS do less damage than her NON CRITS, ergo its a negative interaction because the entire point of crit is a DPS boost.

Further, with the rework of IE (an item ashe was intended to buy first for the 50% damage increase), ashe lost her literal core item. She was reworked AROUND infinity edge.

no, she still deals the same dmg on a crit as a non crit, her slow is just stronger, adn in esence if you build full crit every shot after your first deald 2.1x dmg and will always double slow, so no, she actually has and EXTREEMLY positive outcome with more crit chance, especially since as you build it you still have incresed dmg from the crit chance

Stormrazor triggers just apply Ashe's critical slow, I think (her critical strikes triple the passive's slow briefly).

Also, fun fact, her W registers as a critical strike from her passive, so Infinity Edge will convert 10% of that to true damage too.
