Found out why there is so many 4v5s

So there I was playing some ranked and I lock in Gnar as the second pick. Just then my wonderful son runs by and knocks my laptop off the table and it shuts down. Ah bummer -3lp and a 6 minute wait. No big. I pick it up and turn it back on and almost decide to just be done for a bit, but instead decide to hop on my level 6 account. Then I habitually just typed in my password to my main account and log in (whoops) and there it is, in all of its glory, the reconnect button. I was disconnected from CHAMPION SELECT for 4-6 minutes. I get in just as the game starts, we win.

If people decide to dodge and just close their laptop or shutdown their computer, apparently, that doesn't DC from league. You have to actually close out. Can we fix plz?

Hes basically saying the game should have given him the 3lp penalty and closed the champ select because real life happens and this probably has been a similar reason why we have all been on a team with 4 people, nothing to do with him being lazy.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll do an even further TL;DR: Basically he's saying that queues don't reset if your computer gets shut down in champ select.

To clear up any confusion, I had to completely rebooot, there is no battery (old lappy) and the cord came out on impact. Interesting that it would matter if you had locked in already or not. I don't think I like that.

So yeah, i don't think there is a fix for lazy. Because what it sounds like to me is that you are too lazy to close lol out via task manager or, i dunno, clicking close on the task bar, so you want riot to make it easier for noobs to rage quit -.-.

I'm not calling you a noob but =, the game doesn't know if the reason you dc'ed is an accident or you just don't wanna play anymore. why don't you just take 5 seconds to close it out like a normal person

Is there even a grade A for those?

I believe it stands for 'asshole', but I might be wrong on that.

I'm not sure if you actually READ the post but his laptop was COMPLETELY shut down, thus he was completely disconnected from the client. I think the server remembers that you were in a game and gives you the option to reconnect. In this case, the server probably didn't log you out until the game started, which confused it into letting you reconnect.

No fix for STUPID. Learn to read pls.

Sometimes you find someone who's such an asshole is frightens you

What you say is half right and half wrong.

Because you didn't Close the client, you instead just got disconnected. The game doesn't know you got disconnected right away (No games do) since internets often fluctuate. It probably happened close to the end of selection and the game started before realizing you were disconnected.

The same thing happens in all games. If you disconnect your internet, you'll see everything stop moving for about 5 seconds while the game attempts to reconnect you in the background, before telling you there's a problem.

If the game just booted you out the moment you lost connection then games would be unplayable, as Internets often drop for seconds at a time (lag spikes).

I have a feeling your laptop didn't shut down but instead went to sleep. It was still running processes including league of legends in the background, you never truly exited champion select. Actually shutting down the computer will dodge you from the game. Source: just tested it 4 times

Yea, because everybody on the internet is an expert with technology and would never make a diagnostic error. :/

Huh? What's with the sarcasm? Anyway, if you did those tests in bot games, the server doesn't bother keeping you in those games. It only works when you are with other people. If not then, I'm not too sure as to why. Though I've left plenty of bot games and the game just let's you leave with no problems.

I did the tests in draft pick matchmaking.

The sarcasm was to point out that you shouldn't be so trusting in the absolute word of the OP. They are known to make mistakes.

EDIT: So I think I see what the issue may be, you had already selected your champion before you disconnected. During my tests I left right away before ban phase even finished. The reason my games got cancelled and not yours is because when it came down to my turn to pick a champion it just left it blank. Riot implemented a feature where it dodges you from the game if you fail to select a champion.

people already know this

did you know if you log back in before champion select ended then it will boot you from champion select?

really? because i dodge all the time and it never happened to me

OK i came off as douchey i get it, sorry for that, but this is my experience. The only way FOR ME to get the game to actually 100% kick em out of the game is too quit through the game client saying i agree to the penalty. IF i DC my computer, close it using task manager, unplug my ethernet cable, dc form game any way imaginable i always get the option to reconnect... meaning the only way i have ever know to leave a game is by doing it through lol. My games stay connected unless i take the penalty or until i reconnect (which i do as often as i can).

BADxW0LF8 votes

...if you disconnect at champ select in any way, it should just quit champ select for anyone. plain and simple.

lol I srsly hate them D'cs. But I don't play to win, I play to improve so I don't really mind that much. Unless I wanna rank :) BTW i think this is the most OP CHAMP:Poppy :P

Once I had to dodge a game in the last 4 seconds because I remembered I had something else to do. I closed the game but I was like "I should open this just to be sure" and when i did the reconnect button was there. I'm sure the game closed before the match started. Since then I always open the game again if I have to dodge or if the game/pc crash in champ select.

I think this is a plausible theory on why there are so many 4v5s in normals, but not ranked. Most people who dodge that way would probably realize they were losing more than 3lp. I do find normals where someone never loads more frequently than in ranked as well.
