Ahri needs a nerf right now

Just stating the truth. She's basically a mage Irelia, why hasn't Riot nerfed her yet?

She's already been nerfed. Do people even keep up with patch notes?

Why is this thread getting upvoted?

Because shes being abused a lot in SoloQ, with being one of the mid lane highest pick, and an above average winrate that has been kept constant with a high pickrate

Ionian2 votes

And she has been getting nerfs often. Meanwhile Vayne Skarner Garen MonkeyKing .

I could say the same thing for other champs that has been getting gutted more than Ahri but still end up viable still, and dont even forget some got gutted more than her. And also the fact mid laners laning against Ahri while she has a very safe laning phase with low risk and high reward.

FantasySniper1 votes

Wait, Ahri was gutted?

ReshiKillim2 votes

They removed 25% of her full combo damage.

It was a special effect on charm that caused 25% increased damage from Ahri while charmed.

Baseball3b1 votes

In return though they made her much more kite-centric which I love.

FantasySniper1 votes

No, they didn't. Not only was Charm's damage amp 20%...

Old Damage Total: 1134 (+259% AP) 1325 (+303.8% AP) w/ Charm damage amp

New Damage Total: 1202 (+274% AP)

It was only a ≈10% difference in Charmed damage vs Update damage. Comparatively, it made her much more reliable not just because of the higher base damages and utility, but also in fixing her bugs. They haven't buffed her despite the "gutting" and she's been dominating mid lane ever since.

ReshiKillim4 votes

Rather than Ahri needing a nerf, there's a lot of champions that need some buffs and utility to keep up with the rest of the game.

She's actually quite a healthy champion. She's strong because she's generally a safe pick. Unless there's a Talon or Ekko around, then they just committed suicide by picking Ahri.

And a good number of champions can actually lane against her without being oppressed into hell. (E.G: Yasuo or Ekko vs Karthus, that's what is oppressive)

pripustas1 votes

Too bad that Ahri can Zhonyas instantly after Talon jumps onto her, and then jump away with her ult. And Talon can go home, because he can't gapclose twice.

Ionian3 votes

Considering Talon can drop a full combo in .5 seconds, Zhonyas doesn't actually mean much.

ModBoggyBuntu2 votes

Do you have high ping? Generally I can zhonyas with other mages Talon's combo, so I think you can zhonyas his ult honestly

Ionian1 votes

Eh I guess my reaction time is just terrible. If he ults from the fog-of-war I can't even zhonya the combo.

pripustas1 votes

Not only that people are managing to use Zhonya's or Seraph's shield, but Talon's E has a cast time after the blink ( I don't know how much, but about 0.2-0.3sec), and Q cast time is bugged (there's a thread, but Riot isn't paying attention)

Also forgot to mention that Ahri (and almost every other ranged champion) destroys Talon in laning phase. So he almost always isn't fed enough to 0.5sec combo someone.

ReshiKillim1 votes

I sometimes play with a friend of mine who's a Talon main.. And Zhonya's and Seraph's are only useful 10% of the time.

They often die to him in around 0.75 seconds, which is all the time he takes to dish out enough damage to kill an ADC or squishy midlaner.

Which is why people buy pink wards if a Talon is around.

ToxicDeveloper3 votes

Because Riot doesn't care when a character has overwhelmingly positive laning matchups against the majority of the cast, but rather the "toxicity" of the champion.

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

That's not true either though.. I mean look at how popular vayne has been.

WolfChases3 votes

The moment when you finally poke Ahri and she out heals it with a single spell :3

Vistha Kai2 votes

And then you notice she has no mana left and is a sitting duck, because 99.9% players buy Morello that gives nearly 0 mana regeneration.

PS. This "single spell" requires 3 spell casts prior.

Than buff item 3165 so it can grant you 100% base mana regeneration :3

Vistha Kai1 votes

Yeah.

BASE mana regeneration.

So for Ahri it means she will get 20 mana every 5 seconds at level 18. Broken OP, no mana costs.

WolfChases3 votes

Are you fucking kidding me? -.-

Vistha Kai1 votes

I don't.

Ahri's mana regeneration varies between 6.0 – 19.6 at level 1 and 18 respectively. That's exactly how much mana regeneration Morellonomicon gives. At level 18 it takes nearly 22 seconds for Morello to restore enough mana for one Charm or max rank Orb of Deception.

WolfChases2 votes

Learn to manage your mana and learn to farm without spamming your spells lol. Ahri is better than 90% of midlaners in this game and you are still complaining.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Ahri needs to cast 4 basic spells to activate her passive. There is no "but" here. That's a fact. Like it or not.

As to being better than 90% of mid laners... I destroy every Ahri with a 44% winrate champion. There goes your argument.

Vistha Kai5 votes

She needs to cast Q/W three times and then cast one more Q to heal.

Clearly that's a free heal.

To put it into perspective: Ahri has to spend a minimum of 215 mana for one heal. That requires her to use W three times(50*3 mana) and then Q once for 65 mana. Because nobody maxes W first it takes Ahri at least 18 seconds to get a heal. Maximum mana spend for a heal is 340, which requires four consecutive max rank Qs.

Ionian2 votes

Not to mention you push the wave doing so, which you don't really want if you're low hp.

Vistha Kai1 votes

That's a given due to the nature of her passive, yes.

You played ap runeglaive ez mid yesterday on ranked and won I highly doubt you find players that aren't braindead in your matches

You're Silver 5 0 LP.

ScowlingGusStraw1 votes

Whats so bad about playing runeglaive ez mid in ranked lol? Dont be a DiK I also played a ranked game as talon that i forgot about against an Ahri mid and won with a score of 12-1-9 two days ago.

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

Ever since they took rune glaive EZ mid in the lcs, they completely destroyed runeglaive. You literally have no reason to build it over a lich bane... lich bane is literally better in every way. Also a good ahri against a talon will wait for his cutthroat, charm him in the face and kill him XD The reason people don't like playing against ahri is because of her ridiculous kiting. But riot did that because they originally gutted her damage really hard.

ScowlingGusStraw1 votes

Your right that lich bane is good. But since i play a lot of solo/duo que in not such a high rank. I really like having smite to clear, +it is gold efficient :)

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

It's not the worst item you could build and honestly the cdr does help ezreal. I guess it depends what youre building :P

ScowlingGusStraw1 votes

Yup, and well noted about the cdr even if its 10% its nice to have the barrage on a lower cooldown, global lane push is nice in solo que IMO

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

The other thing I enjoy about taking jungle items to lane is having 2 stacks of chilling smite XD Great for escaping and funny for dropping on somebody's head.. Honestly it's less damage than ignite, but you dont have to worry about them getting away with a tick of health :P

ScowlingGusStraw1 votes

chilling smite is so awsum possum on vi

Take chilling smite on jungle darius, and take ghost... you will strike fear into their heart.

Except she just got a nerf to her sustain, which costs her a lot of mana in the first place because her spells are so expensive. Not to mention she was fine anyway. She does a lot of things but none of them particularly well. She can poke for fair damage if her expensive and slow Q connects. She can escape a gank with her ult but then she doesn't have kill pressure. Her W bolts require a second to rotate to a point where they'll shoot off at the enemy champion, if there aren't minions nearby to eat some of them. The only way she can hit you with anything reliably is if she charms you, which is easily blocked by minions and not too hard to dodge, or if she gets in your face with her ult which is dangerous for her by virtue of putting herself in a potentially extremely dangerous position.

She's a safe pick and has some play-making potential if she can land her charm, but that's about all she has.

are you implying ahri w doesn't target enemy champs her sustain barely got nerfed, she only gets at most -20 heal and even then that is on the absolute best cases her q is what makes her ungankable, if you have lane shoved as ahri then you either are going to roam or gonna try to outlevel and outburst him she does a lot of things pretty well i'd say, maybe she's not the absolute best at absolutely everything but damn she does a lot of things above the average compared to other champs, and a jack of all trades should not beat champs that specialize in one thing in that one thing you just said her ult doesn't do a lot of damage then you say she loses kill pressure by using it her q isn't that slow, i bet you say "just dodge nid spears" her e is basically death sentence

lol

yay nibbers1 votes

What I was saying about her W is the bolts will go straight for a minion if the bolt isn't immediately in range of the enemy champion but is indeed in range of a minion. Meaning she has to be right in your face to be sure they all hit you or use it when there aren't minions around.

In any case, you can say she does everything pretty well but that doesn't make it true. It doesn't change her high mana costs and minion blocked E.

And yes, I do say "just dodge nid spears." They're even slower than Ahri's Q. Unless they're coming from a bush/fogofwar you should see them coming, and Nid spears can at least be minion blocked when that isn't the case. Fog of war and bushes aren't things you need to worry about with Ahri's Q though. Her Q isn't that slow, you're right. But it's more than slow enough to dodge if you don't just sit there standing still while you farm. The only ones in mid that have to worry about Ahri's Q are melee AAers without free mobility like Akali and Talon, who you shouldn't really pick into Ahri anyway (though Talon is actually good against Ahri if you play him well).

On top of everything there's counter-picks. There are a few counterpicks that deal with Ahri quite handily. Lissandra, Swain, and Annie just to name a few anti-mobility mid laners. As well there's Yasuo, Leblanc, Diana, Kassadin, and more that can more than easily throw down with Ahri.

ok let me dodge all nid spears im sure i can dodge ALL of them and never get hit by a single one them i won't discuss with someone who thinks nidalee's spears have always been fine
