Sooo. Rift Herald.... failure or success?

It's still early to judge i know. Personally i like it as an objective, but i think it's not worth the time investement/health investment that you have to pay to do it.

Usually you do it with 2 people sometimes 3, but the thing is that you lose a crap ton of health and time. And you wanna do this guy when you know the other top or jungle can't contest, wich usually mean that you want to do it when you forced back the toplaner. Problem is that if you waste time doignt his thing while toplane is coming back in lane you are then forced to go defend your lane yes with the buff,,, but icnredibly weakned (unless you have tp ready, but it's kind of a waste of summoner in that case)

So this is my major problem, it's hard to find the right timing to do this guy.

Honestly? I've rarely seen it being killed :O

He's supposed to encourage laneswaps between top and bot, doing it with 3 people is alot easier than doing it with two, and adcs appreciate the buff

Unfortunately, Dragon is still more important to get stacking early. Sooooo...

Useful for sated devourer, otherwise useless really. I think all people in the area should get the buff, would encourage a lot more action, similar to the dragon then.

When you only give the buff to one person, it's pretty mediocre.

Failure. Still does too much damage too risky to solo.

They don't want you to solo it. That was specified.

It's pointless, the buff is nice but no one bothers to get it, a tower is more important than the buff and like everyone else is saying deals too much damage and takes too long to kill so when you do get it 1 of you has to go back so you waste more time and potentially could lose a tower.

Can he be both? He's a failure because people don't go after him...

He's a success because he's game changing.... Teams that will commit to taking him early can dominate. As Xin I can solo dragon at level 4/5 and the meet a tanky top laner right after and buff him. Down goes two towers in the top lane. Pretty much GG!

I think it's a success. It's pretty much there to help push advantages(in my eyes) and it does that quite well.

IMO the buff is really worth it and i heavily encourage people to take it, but its near impossible to sneak so you already have to be winning to get the chance to take it. and after that theres not a lot of opportunity to go for it when you'd much rather be doing other things like 1v1'ing in lane or denying the enemy farm. etc.

its something i do consider, but at the same time its just too difficult to take. because you'll want your jungler + top to be near full hp, and thats hard enough to coordinate.

I don't think it's a success. It makes snowballers more snowbally while the dragon benefits the team as a whole. I rarely see it taken, but I play with unranked/bronze/silver players so that might be why.

Failure is too strong a word, but it isn't working yet. Needs tweaking.

I think, to me, the main issue was highlighted in the recent patch preview; it's better to take a tower than to take Rift Herald. It's not worth the investment, because you can get the payout (towers) faster by avoiding the buff.

So... it wasn't thought through well enough, imo. Either they need to change the buff somehow, or they should remove it. Alternatively, they could go back to old drag and make rift herald a smaller version of dragon... That hasn't been suggested yet, but I still kind of wonder if the stacking dragon buff was the way to go. I don't love the way it has influenced the game, personally.
