Blocked Players, Matchmaking, and Toxicity
Today I went into a ranked game, ready to enjoy myself. When I saw the name of my ADC, I thought it seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it and moved on. As the game went on, I saw nothing from my ADC, but saw people responding to someone they believed to be toxic. Curious, I used Tab to check the scoreboard, and I found out what I had thought before - I had already blocked the ADC in the past. I remembered him after that, and quickly informed my team that he was negative and toxic, but by that point it was too late... Our team was already fighting amongst themselves, which negated any chance we had of winning the game. We ended up surrendering just after 20 minutes.
After that game, I began to think of things that might help reduce that in the future, and I came upon an idea - preventing players from being matchmade with a player they blocked. This would, in general, reduce the chances of a player ending up with a toxic player they had an unpleasant experience with in the past, as well as improve the experience for those others in the same game, as they wouldn't have to deal with the toxicity either.
I don't know how easy or difficult this would be to implement into the current system, but something has to change. There is no reason a player should be subjected to a blatantly toxic player if they already have blocked that same player in the past. It's extremely rough on players who are learning the game, and also unfair to those who are looking to climb in their leagues.
