Okay so in normal mode games I stomp with Vel'Koz and win more times than I lose by a large margin. However, in ranked games I cannot for the life of me win games with Vel'Koz be it as support or mid.
Any Vel'Koz mains have advice for me to improve? Also any advice in general is also appreciated :)
Death by Kayn2 votesVel is kinda a hard champ to explain. A lot of playing him is learned skill. I watched a lot of videos myself to learn higher level mechanics myself. I would suggest sp4zie. A lot of his videos with vel may not be that serious, but the mechanics are all there, and actually really helpful if you pay attention. I would be able to help more if I knew how you are playing him, but this is all I can do for you.

Holy... I just watched his Golden Darn montage and I gotta say his mechanics are beautiful. I have never even thought of using some of the combos he used in the way he used it like the Q + R.

Chespin20131 votesplaying vel'koz u have to play safe and position urself in a good area to fire ur abilities remember that landing ur spells as vel'koz is very important to kick in ur passive if ur pushing ur lane hard make sure to always buy wards they let u know when to and not to overextend and u dont have to be a geometry wizard to land his spells practice makes perfect always be careful in fights ur not the tank or a fighter so u stay in the back fire lazers at people and make sure to use all of ur spells accordingly q is great for poking in lane but w is just as good cuz it not only hits ur enemies if they try to cs buy also helps getting farm too and will teach them that this is ur lane now. playing support is pretty much the same thing only u really got to look out for ur positioning in lane and make sure to buy a sightstone asap thats what every support needs wards are vision, vision is like knowledge, and knowledge is power use wards to help secure objectives like dragon or baron or even jungle buffs or put them in bushes or areas people are known to walk through regularly so that u know to avoid them when they are coming or set up a ambush. i hope that this was helpful from one vel main to another
Velkoz Reloaded1 votesI get it. I really do. I climbed straight to platinum iii with Vel'koz then lost about 30 games in a row to drop back to platinum v.
For me, experimenting with some build adjustments and the playstyles that accompanied them helped out a LOT. I have a guide on Mobafire called Vel'koz Reloaded (so original) that goes through a bit of what I mean for the change in playstyle per build.
