It's a lot better. Most of the time, you aren't building DC early, so you don't have very many slots when you are doing it, which means the cost is absurd. Now, as long as you have two slots open, it's super easy to build and has a lower combine cost

And don't forget item 1058 is already more cost efficient than any other AP item on its own so you're getting its component AP for cheaper, combining it for cheaper, buying it wholesale for cheaper, combining it from less items, and getting more bonus % AP. It's a massive boon for people building it.

It's a pretty gutted build path, pretty cost inefficient timewise, you are legit hoarding gold saving it up while your ad opponent prob just bought 3-4 of their items component giving them an clear advantage.
