Ancient Coin line is a goldmine right now

Currently the best of the 3 Support items IMO, the 40 gold coins are amazing Teammate clears a shoved wave? Walk there and get 200 free gold. Got an Assist? 40 extra gold.

Compared with Spellthief's Edge, which only grants gold when you're sieging or fighting, Ancient Coin grants gold any time a minion dies, which is more or less the entirety of the game. As Janna and Soraka support I've gotten as much gold as my mid-laners by the end of the game with Ancient Coin, and have had a full build at level 17 with 4K+ gold left over (granted I had a really high KP that game). Statistically, Janna and Soraka have seen significant win-rate spikes since 7.13, and Ancient Coin Sona has been winning more than Spellthief Sona.

A bit overtuned? Maybe, but it's been fun.

The problem is that the 40 gold is given at rank two of the line, it really should be something like 20 30 40, not 25 40 40.

I see support luxes and sonas using it despite spellthiefs being great on them.

I think it makes sense for it to be a viable option on Sona, since you can definitely play the lane more passively on her and still be very useful, not to mention you scale better than most supports. But on lux that's pretty silly.

It's supposed to be a option thing for Sona since both her aggressive and passive playstyles are usable, now passive Sona dominates aggressive Sona thanks to Coin's ability to give her more gold and basically give her inf mana And Sona's a support who can stack Spelltheives incredibly effectively, it's depressing how if you was to perfectly proc ST every opportunity you have that it wouldn't make close to the amount of gold Coin does even though ST promotes riskier play to get the gold.

Not that I've done the math, but if your spell thief passive is literally always one cooldown during lane phase due to optimal usage, then I'm fairly certain you'll get significantly more gold out of it than you would from picking up coins. /techincalities

Supports we're always gated by gold income which made their items a lot cheaper to compensate, I wouldn't mind having the gold income but that means the prices on items will have to change.

Their gold income is still lower, so it makes sense for their items to still cost less.

Yeah, most pro supports are building coin at this point. You just get so much gold that you're hampering yourself by not buying it, no matter what the other ones might give you in terms of stats or actives.
