@Riot. Give Evelynn a Reset on Whiplash

Don't change her Charm or Whiplash scaling. Her damage is fine and is resistible as it should be. Zed was a balance nightmare and he only passively did Magic damage. Just reset Empowered Whiplash on-kill/assist (within 3 seconds, but the ability must still internally cool down) since it was gained through inflicting pain on enemy champions.

The reason people don't like new Evelynn is because in the back of their minds, they do not see Evelynn getting any Penta-kills.

Giving Whiplash a reset so that she can keep moving fast (if she has mana left) will enable her to get those multi-kills and smooth out her kit so well (empowered's damage is really good right now, but is resistable by MR, and I think that is healthy if it has a reset).

Since she cannot buff her movement speed by herself, allowing her to use her mana up to try to secure that last kill will be a huge judgement call that only she can make. Also, managing that reset with her Hatespike Cooldown timer is a task on its own, but well worth the risk if she can help secure.

Evelyn has a really strong passive being able to go invisible so that means her whole kit has to suffer and arguably she might need a nerf

Damn. You are living up to your name, dont you?

Evelynn's passive is really strong and invisibility DOES get you nerfed.

Nyarlathοtep

Well until lvl 6 her passive is really weak. And that is totally fine. What is not fine though, is the detection range. Its the whole damn lane. Also she is the only that gets knocked out of stealth from whatever source of dmg. Couple that with 0 dashes and she gets shitty ganks unless her opponents are in a bad location already.

Problem with that on the current Evelynn is a full AP Eve will regen all her HP back. She needs to lose stealth by damage. It needs to be detectable.

Nyarlathοtep

They can easily control her passive hp regen with number changes, either scaling or base. And no she doesnt has to lose stealth by dmg, the detection range is huge and she lacks way to gap close to a target. I mean for christ sake's twitch can do the same + plus movement speed + atk speed when he exits the stealth and very much lower detection range, at the small cost of not being perma. Which at this point having perma camo is more of a downside that an upside.

Yeah. The deal here is that previously, Stealth's impact on the game was so static, players weren't getting good at playing the game, they were getting good at playing champions with very low stats, meaning they were playing the "win by value" approach.

You've often heard that Evelynn is expensive to build (due in part to how splitting her scaling up between AP and AD took away from AP's scaling).

Eventually what they settled with doing was nerfing all the items that she generally does good with so they don't boost her scaling as much.

(VERY OLD SWORD OF THE OCCULT) (THE OLD GUINSOO'S RAGE BLADE) (THE OLD item 3078 ) (item 3116 )(item 3146 )(item 3152)

As of now, they have given her kit more actions. More actions means there's more to nerf and buff and move around. Nerfs and buffs are going to come and go, but the balance team having to manipulate items just for Evelynn's sake is going to make things difficult standardize.

I'm not sure if you glossed this over but she does get a reset on whiplash when she activates demon shade.

Yeah, I havn't forgotten that. But its not Whiplash itself that gets the reset, it still coolsdown. If she enters Demon Shade while Whiplash is still on cooldown, and then comes back out of Demon Shade while Whiplash is still on cooldown, Whiplash will be Empowered Whiplash, but it will not be ready for use.

She still has to wait 100% of the cooldown timer in order to have access to that mobility at any given state in the game. I think putting it on Whiplash is excellent, but now there is the issue of giving her the feel of the Frenzy back.

She needs a full CDR reset on Whiplash (Empowered or not) in order to perform an action after 4 seconds because she literally has nothing left to cast and is pretty much forced to just activate Demon Shade and heal up, or see if her enemy can burst her down before her next round of cooldowns.

The trade off is that she simply must participate in the kill and get an assist within 3 seconds.

If she's waiting longer than 3 seconds, thats more than half the duration of Whiplash so don't give it to her. She's probably going back into Demon Shade and is backline now.

If she's in there dodging skill shots and stutter stepping like a boss, but she has no Cooldowns coming in the next 5 seconds because she dumped her load on the last assist, she looks dumb. Can't contribute like she could.

Eve is perfect the way she is. Scalings, stats gains, ability mechanics...

She needs that Reset to go from Perfect to Legendary.

From what I've read, most people who don't like New Eve are upset that she was shifted from a super-speedy Diver (little bit of burst followed by good sustained damage) into a slug-like melee Burst Mage (heavy burst followed by standing around awkwardly).

Giving her a buncha resets could help with the standing around awkwardly part, but wouldn't that be stepping on Kat's toes?

While yes, the shift is to slow her down so that she is not binary in nature.

Evelynn's old binary nature was something like this:

"I am seen = True. Dark Frenzy and go away." "I am seen = False. Spam Q"

You could not catch an Evelynn who absolutely did not want to be caught. But it wasn't that she was too fast to be caught that was the primary issue. It was that she could be that fast whenever she wanted_. She would run away on that 12 second cooldown, restealth, and get into combat again, gaining a reset on that 12 second Cooldown which allowed her to start chasing and getting more resets.

She was "Off" until she wanted to be "On". That was the issue with the old Reset.

Evelynn has ALWAYS had a reset. Infact... Malice and Spite, her original ultimate WAS Dark Frenzy. It was all of her steroids wrapped up in a nifty R that reset whenever any enemy champion died ANYWHERE.

Today, they spread out all of her steroids, except the one glaring buff that they decided could get cut from her kit for more mage power, attack speed. I think its a healthy trade personally. But her kit will feel more like the old Evelynn if she's able to get that Empowered Whiplash's cooldown reset from being in combat. It costs a fat chunk of Mana and mana regeneration is no more. It just makes perfect sense to me.

Question is posed to the summoner: Do I ult to safety? or do I ult behind them and try to clean them up? Will I get CC'd and fail? Will I catch them off guard and get a double-kill? A triple? A Quadra?

I don't ever see myself asking these questions right now. I'm more worried about getting the hell back to safety because I just know that once I press Q once, W once, and E once... it's time to run to safety. Whatever died died, but its no longer my concern. Team will get it.

To be honest, I just want to see more synergy with her Allure. Say, for example, increased movement speed towards enemies affected by fully charged Allure, having reduced detection range if affected by Allure etc. Her damage is more than fine, but it just feels like sometimes she doesn't have the opportunity to unleash her real potential.
