Should we assume that Riot will give her some well-deserved attention this season? I've heard many players complain for years about how Karma's reworked kit is trash compared to the original kit and how it lacks uniqueness or identity. Riot NeuroCat (a game designer) posted last October about some changes that would make Karma better [ https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/TkiBEVYV-karma-gameplay-change-preview ] but I haven't heard anything recent concerning the matter. Has anyone seen or heard news about a Karma update since this post?

That wasn't the purpose of the video. The video is a Noxian invasion of Iona theme, with added Riven - Exile punishment lore for deserting Noxus. Karma's a player in that fight.

i hope they update her model to resemble that in the cinematic, she is SO beautiful and her armor looks so much better

I do hope Riot will add the missing aspects of her clothing that was present in the cinematic (the cape that's attached to her wrists via cufflinks/bracelets, her earrings, the long glove on her left arm to go with long boot on her right leg for the asymmetrical look as the other limbs are exposed) in the future but she was definitely not a random pick. She's one of the leaders of Ionia and was directly involved in one of the invasions so she's expected to show up when it comes to any invasion of Ionia. She and Irelia are like two of the main leads of that nation.

Karma was just put there to fit the theme of the Ionian army, the details behind her changes were disappointing, so don't have high expectations for Karma or expect any further attention from Riot for her.

Edit: You're just going to down vote me without saying anything? I'm being blunt about this and not sugar coating it. The amount of effort put into her changes are laughable. They used the feedback for Karma and put it into other champions. Look at Shyvana's recent changes to her fireball Q, its exactly what Karma mains have been asking for years and few months after Karma mains rework suggestions post, Shyvana was the one to get it. All the feedback used was basically us brainstorming ideas so they could use it on other champions and they're just going to do whatever they want with Karma like they've always done since her half-@$$ed rework, isn't that just wonderful (slow clap). Keep your expectations LOW.
