@Riot Revert the Mundo changes back to the previous set, this isn't the way.
This was all a bunch of thoughts so tl;dr: Mundo should not be going back to the days of super-tanky Mundo dealing tons of damage to squishies while also absorbing everything, pretty sure we got over this with Ekko/Fizz. Instead, give him a niche that allows him to properly duel champs in lane again with how available Excecutioners Calling / Mortal Reminder / Morello are now along with mobility creep. Give him a chance to snowball the game instead of sitting back and providing nothing if he goes even, because he does nothing better than other tanks who don't rely on massive amounts of sustain as much. (Even Maokai who has tons more utility than Mundo, hence why Maokai can be so dominant with a super small buff.) Mundo does NOT need damage, he needs to have 1. Something that can counter the issue of him being outsustained when he shouldn't be, and 2. Something that won't make him curbstomp without hitting his one and only skillshot. Be smart, Riot, because you had a very good idea and you shouldn't be taking it away so lightly.
If it's too extreme you can tune his non-jungle stats to compensate (It would also probably be nice to give his jungle clear a buff, though not with these E changes for reasons I've already stated), because this is more than enough to bring him into a good spot if you're good enough to play him.
Edit: To clarify, the 9/8 Range Changes were 100% not needed. Mundo should have to be close and personal, not in a poke comp, but at the same time he needs his own dynamic and ability to fight duelists once again without being too much of a squishy-killer. I endorse the Grevious Wounds change and a possible minor jungle buff, that's all.

I'd at least like to hear the reasoning behind this. Mundo is a champ who is currently suffering from the issue is not being good at either dueling or teamfights: With Grevious Wounds existing in the game and mobility creep continuing on its rise, Mundo just can't do anything. In teamfights he's locked down by CC and everyone dashing away and hence can't do anything except tank damage, and in 1v1 scenarios he simply doesn't match his opponents in sustain. (Look at champs like Fiora, Illaoi, Swain, Vlad. All of them can outsustain him and have more utility/damage at the same time. Look at champs like Maokai, Sion, Malphite, Poppy. They can do well in teamfights because they have good amounts of natural tankiness that can't be negated by something like Grevious Wounds and/or have the utility to benefit the team even if their sustain is crushed. For example, Maokai has two slows, a root, and an ult that negates 20% damage to all allied champs/himself in its ring. Mundo, on the other hand, has nothing but his Q slow , which while effective isn't enough to make him relevant compared to Maokai. No, his role would probably come in dueling, being a powerful monster that can take all the hurt that his enemies give him and just come back with more, making them run in terror.
Now why is this E change bad then? Looks like that's going in the proper direction, correct?
No. This will not fix Mundo. Right now Mundo will either deal incredible amounts of damage while also being super tanky (Ekko problem he had during his strength phase) or not deal enough and remain nothing but a useless tank. (Right now). Riot KNOWS he has no clear niche because of this, but they're looking to try and bring him back towards the 1st scenario while increasing his jungle clear with it, but does this really fix the problem? No, if Mundo falls behind he'll still have nothing, he has no real way of providing anything at that point, hence his role as a tank is still awful. As for his dueling potential, it's increased, but by how much? Mundo will be able to hit harder and have his AA reset up a bit sooner, but he still doesn't have that sustain to match because Mortal Reminder/Morello are that damn good, even to the point where duelists and juggernauts (For example, lets say Fiora again) can buy the item and simply outsustain after 15 minutes. For gods sake THIS item only costs 800 gold, it's not hard to buy as a first item and just matches any trade he throws in an equal-level skill matchup. It just doesn't work.
Now look at the Q change. Grevious Wounds vs Grevious Wounds, if Mundo can land his Q's (which should be 100% VITAL to win in a duel as it's his only skillshot) he changes the dynamic up. He has a clear unique effect, he can duel champs and outsustain them once again, and most importantly of all he CANNOT nuke squishies while also being a super tanky monster, the most he can do is kill their sustain, but if a Mundo really is good enough to get past the frontline (which with all of the CC in the game should be difficult) and the support then honestly that's the squishy's team misplaying.
+ Mundo's W means CC won't do as much against him.Idk about u but getting rid of the adc from a fight seems like bringing something huge to a teamfight.
