Give Zac's passive some love?

Zac isn't in the best place right now, and Riot has acknowledged this by giving him some knockup on his e and r. This is great, Riot understands that Zac is struggling and I really appreciate their attempt at helping a Champion out.

But let's focus on Zac's passive for just a moment.

Zac's passive is one that falls into the "revival" category: i.e. it allows the champion to rise again if their health bar is depleted. However, Zac's revival is a conditional revival. Like Anivia, another rather unappreciated champion imo (ew that splash art), after being killed they are reduced to a lesser form, one that must survive so that the champion may rise once again (notably, without being credited as being "killed" by the enemy team). Also noteworthy, all of these passive are on cooldown, making them somewhat strategic for baiting the enemy.

Okay that's dandy, but there is one other champion who has a revive and his name is Aatrox. However, his revive is unconditional. He does not have to survive as a lesser form, he simply gets back up after a certain interval with no strings attached. This alone isn't that big of an issue for me, Aatrox isn't a tank and doesn't provide hard CC like Anivia. If he is killed in a teamfight, he has the option to keep going, whereas the other two can be permanently eliminated more easily.

Part of this does bother me however, Aatrox has a shorter cooldown on his passive than Zac OR Anivia, this combined with the relative safety of his regeneration gives him a major edge in this regard alone.

Even more so, with the upgrades to smite Zac especially is incredibly vulnerable wilst in this form. The bloblets can be killed very easily with smite, even more so if the enemy jungler is using trailbalzer.

To continue, Zac's bloblets scale very poorly into the late game, being one shotted rather easily by even the most underfed of Marksman and many bruisers.

Now I won't speak from Anivia, but as someone who really likes Zac, it is distressing when there is a champ who is already in a much better place then Zac, such as Aatrox, and on top of that is further outclassed by a passive that undermines a passive that was a really unique and cool idea.

So, in order to improve Zac (and this is just his passive, which would probably still not be enough to make him that good but its at least something) I suggest they do one of these few things

1. Make Zac's bloblets unaffected by smite- Smite was in a different place when Zac was released, I think as it has grown and as Zac has diminished, this is perfectly fair.

****2. Make Zac's bloblets scale better- ****self- explanatory, they should ideally take less than four autoattacks to destroy.

3. (yeah I'm cheating) Do Both- Zac could REALLY use the help and honestly, he would still be just okay after this, but at least somewhat better.

EDIT: 4. They could lower the cooldown- this one could be way over the top and isn't as cut and dry as simply removing smite effects. Not sure how I would feel about it but, as is, his is the longest in the game for arguably the worst version of that passive.

Even if Aatrox didn't exist with a straight up superior ability to Zac, I wouldn't care, Zac's passive is practically worthless unless the enemy team straight up forgets you exist ( as do some people that Zac does exist as a champion in this game from time to time).

Feel free to leave your feedback, but please be civil. If I'm wrong just tell me and don't take it as a personal attack or whatever. Thank you for reading.

If only we could move the blobletts. That would make it more fun imo. Just take control of a couple and send them away, then send the others another way. After the set duration they are flung back to the main host and Zac is revived. Would be hilarious to see a little zac blob dodging skillshots and running from a darius or nautilus.

Only if they were also taunting the people chasing them in high pitched voices.

I agree that trailblazer has really hurt Zac. What would your opinion be on changing cell division so that picking up bloblets reduces the cd by say 3 seconds or whatever?

I really enjoy this idea more than what was put out by Simcambi. But going by 3 seconds seems a bit much for me, seeing as his W tosses out countless amounts of blobs on just a regular minion wave. Maybe keeping it simple and going with 1 sec would be a better option.

I really like this not only because it adds more depth to Zac, but also because it ties both aspects of his passive together! However, yeah 3 seconds may be a little too much, as it brings you down to Aatrox's level of cd in only 25 blobs, which as a jungler could be doable in only one clear. Maybe 2 or 1 sec for each blob!

I totaly agree on smite not affecting him.

Not sure about #2...

Yeah I understand, the smite thing would do it for me honestly.

Smite now being more consistently powerful really just makes Zac that much less viable when he already didn't have that much viability in the first place (was called a troll for playing him in normals the other day).

Or they could lower the cooldown. OH CRAP I FORGOT TO PUT THAT IN THERE

The moment Blasting Smite became a thing, Zac's passive became immediately useless.

I LOVE Zac with a passion. He's just plain fun to play. But I can't bring myself to enjoy all his witty quotes and his fun kit when I'm just getting completely and utterly stomped.

But. Zac is difficult to kill in the first place, to even get his passive off in the first place. And during a team fight, its near suicide to focus blobs instead of your enemies.

Aatrox, whom is not a tank like you said is a fighter, and only revives if he keeps a bar full, and if that bar isn't full he doesn't receive much health off his passive, hence being a fighter.

Your only comparing the passives on these two and thats stupid, Zac brings a jack of all trades (as a tank) and all Aatrox has is a knockup, they aren't the same kind of champion and your argument doesn't get better because an entirely different champion, with a different playstyle, purpose, etc. Has a better version of what you have.

And if someone wastes a smite on a blob, its a smite they won't have for an objective anyway.

As I said in my post, the Aatrox comparison is really only there to highlight how bad the Zac passive is. Have you played Zac recently? I suggest you do, because only then will you realize how bloody awful Zac's passive is. Unless you die in the first 5 minutes of the game, your passive is quickly dispatched with extreme ease.

Of course certain champions are going to have superior abilities to others, each champion has their own strengths and weaknesses otherwise the game would like any diversity.

However, Aatrox and Zac are both classified by Riot as fighters/tanks. They both have revival passives and both are reliant on regen. They were released near one another. A comparison between the two is not unwarranted.

Comparing them is unwarranted, they don't build they same, they don't have the same role at all. Riots classification on what they are doesn't mean anything, Zac brings a lot more to the table in CC then Aatrox does, it would be overpowered to give him a passive better then Aatrox.

And Aatrox tends to bring more damage with less CC then Zac would, its balancing at work, and a big CC tank like Zac having a decent rival would be toxic to deal with.

as someone who petty much only plays zac, i agree. Buffing his passive would send him into an okay spot. What i think should happen is after he revives he jumps up knocking enemies away from him. This will allow zac to be able to escape or have a chance of survival because even with a better version of his passive, he'll still be low health from the bloblets being attacked.

What if we do these:

Passive: add another passive that for every blob picked up, Zac gains a bonus+10HP. Oh, and when reviving, can Zac's blobs have 25% of his health and the ability to revive at 100% health.

Q: Zac is able to pick up blobs with this.

W: Change it so that it deals a straight 50/65/70/85/100 damage and heals Zac for 2/3/4/5/6% of his current health for every enemy hit. This will be a no cost ability.

E: Change the charge time to be a 1.1 seconds.

R: Take away the reduced damage part or make it just 20% reduced damage. The most his ultimate could do with no reduced damage is 700 at the low level and 1400 at the highest. Too powerful? Take it up with Blitzcrank.
