Why are the death timers 45 seconds at 35 minutes?

I mean, I just played a game where we were destroying the enemy team all game, but then we had ONE bad fight and the enemy team pushed our entire mid lane down to the nexus. And we were dead the entire time. What is being gained by having such long death timers so early in the game? Who the fuck cares that "it makes games shorter" if it's making such stupid outcomes like this?

Now sure, since I'm me I'll get downvoted to oblivion and everyone will say I'm crazy, but hey, just my two cents.

I think my longest respawn was 70sec, maybe longer as I may not have been paying attention. I see it as pacing for the game, the longer it goes on the less mistakes you want your team to make.

I have lost quite a few games waiting to respawn from a bad team fight.

But by the time the respawns are 70 seconds, the game is too long. When Elder Dragon hasn't even spawned yet (mind you this game ended pre-35 minutes) why should the death timers be this long? Sure, maybe long enough to push down an inhib, but not push down the entire lane and the nexus.

Assuming this is the game you played as Gnar.

As much as the death timers are a lot more punishing now, a game being decided by a bad baron trade is as old as the start of LoL. However, 28 to 20 is hardly a game where you were destroying enemies, particularly when the item builds looked about even up until the game deciding fight.

A team of Jinx, Shaco, and Riven also basically means you're going to lose a lot of ground if you manage to lose a teamfight.
