So, while I consider giving away limited skins such as Champ Riven after the fact to be bad form
I actually like how Riot is doing this, and it will be few enough winners to retain the skin's prestige. Well played, Rito.

It's not even a prestige thing. You went to an event and got it for most of them. The only ones that are supposed to be limited edition are the really old skins or the event only skins. Championship Riven was on sale therefore it should see sale in the future (not that I would buy it anymore since they released Arcade Riven).
Technically the rules for Limited Edition skins are that they are not sold in the store. Nothing in it states they can be given away through other means. Heck they give them out during Worlds last year. Granted it was a bundle card code with all the Championship skins, and i believe it was only available if you had a Ganrea account (or where ever the Korean servers are) So they arent breaking the rules with this. Plus is doesnt really matter since next year they will possibly release the skin turning it into a legacy skin after that!
