[Poll] Unique Return of Soraka's Mana Sharing Infuse

Deep Terror Nami··3 votes·273 views

I propose they reintroduce the old Infuse's mana sharing into Equinox as its passive;

Equinox - [New] passive: Allies standing in Equinox gain 5 / 12 / 19 / 26 / 33 (+2% max Mana) every 0.5 seconds they remain inside.

If you don't know what the old Infuse was, it became Equinox but used to be this;

Infuse ACTIVE On Ally Cast: Restores 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+5% max Mana) Mana to an Ally. ACTIVE On Enemy Cast: Deals 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+5% max Mana) (+50% Ability Power) damage to an enemy and silences them for 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 seconds.

Single target. Either dealt damage, or gave mana to an ally at a small cost. Without that, there is now no ability or item (yet) that will give mana to an ally.

Any thoughts on mana transfer abilities/items, how this would affect the game, or how it would change Soraka's pick/ban and win rates? Vote and comment below!

I dunno, Equinox is already pretty powerful as is...

A little mana regen to allies couldn't hurt that much, right? The cost and CD of it is already quite a bit, and would be a huge waste if you were only using it on allies for mana. The use would be to get it on the intended enemy, and if an ally is right there too it's a bonus. The maximum mana would be getting all 4 allies in it for all 1.5 seconds it is down (probably not going to happen unless you are all safely taking baron/dragon together).

When you consider the situations that you use Equinox now, do you often see your allies in it too for the entire duration? Probably only when they get engaged on by a melee and already can't move. This situation doesn't even happen in bot during laning phase where the mana would be most useful. Getting the most out of the mana would...basically mean you're a bad Soraka more often than not.

I think it could work if they significantly changed how the mana cost for the ability worked. A fairly small base cost to cast and then small amount of mana per ally that enters the area, also a small amount of mana used at the end of the duration if no allies entered the field.

The overall mana cost would be the same if no allies entered or one ally did and every ally past the first that enters would increase the cost past its current state.

if an ally entered the field but soraka was out of mana they would not be granted any, likewise if soraka ran out of mana before the end of the duration enemies would not get stunned.

This makes the field a bit more complicated to understand, but that is the only way I can think of to allow the field to grant mana and be balanced.

My proposal didn't have extra mana drain for when allies got some. There is little need for the extra cost, but if it was needed for balance, a flat increase would be sufficient imo.

It doesn't seem at all complicated to me; if an ally walks in it, they regenerate a little mana every .5 seconds.

If the Soraka is just dropping it on allies to give them mana, she won't have it when it's really needed on the enemy. Using it exclusively for mana often would be a sign of a bad Soraka player, since the mana is a bonus not the primary use (unlike the old Infuse, where it had a short CD and low cost and it was feasible to just feed mana to the needy).

With out some increase to cost or other downside, this would be a straight buff. Maybe she could use a straight buff though, I don't play her enough to know. But unless your intention is for this to be a straight buff at minimum there would have to be an increase to the mana cost.

Yes I intend for it to be a direct buff. Not so much because she's bad (her win rates are a little above average actually), but to make more of the other supports popular again while bringing back a unique ability to the table.

There's just a few too many Janna's -_-

Just an idea from the top of my head. No number crunching was done except to keep the single target full mana gain close to the old Infuse (for a single cast). Any real balancing would probably result in an increased mana cost or decreased damage, which would be acceptable.
