Not sure if this has been considered, but perhaps the player base for team ranked 5's was declining. Maybe the player base as a whole is, and to keep the queue timers low, we had to mix them up.

The reason they are forcing DQ down people's throat is that they thought that if players are playing in groups they won't be toxic to each other. However the amount of toxicity is really up vs solo players who are grouped with premades.

I would agree with some parts of that. There are a lot of pros to DQ for people who like to play with friends. It offers a lot of flexibility, but solo players don't encompass the majority of players. This is probably the best business model for right now.

Once again someone mistakes champ select for DQ. They are independent of each other. The champ select allows you queue up for your role. DQ not only allows but rewards players for grouping up in a premade rather than playing solo.

For the most part people are okay with champ select and not with premades screwing up ranked play.
