Melee champs good against Darius?
Other than my friend
(who seems to absolutely dumpster all melee lanes), are there other melee champs that can defeat
with reasonable consistency?

bad match ups for darius
skill match up for darius
disclaimer: YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO PLAY THOSE CHAMPIONS don't first time them
you forgot
. still have to find a melee (and non-ap) counter to pantheon.
look at op... he said except renekton
Yorick is not bad against Darius, you just make sure to not straight up fight him.
The ghouls provide great harass, his W keeps him in one place if you need to disengage. He can't heal off the ghouls, and you can straight up fight him if you prevent him from stacking his passive on you and let your ghouls do the work.

actually yes you can straight up fight with him, due to the ghouls or mistwalkers or w/e it's called now they simply do too much damage and darius with his poor attack speed can't clear them
if he's trapped inside a wall while yorick has them, he's dead AF without being to do anything his W can't even destroy yorick's wall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEu5oLLbUks

exactly, if he's inside the wall he can't get all the power of his Q you just need to be careful before you have the ghouls, but you have W/E to disengage if he hooks you before you have the ghouls
I've been able to pretty consistently win as
against Darius, but that also might be because I'm also pretty baller at League of Legends :^)
Darius is more of an all-in champion once he finds his footing, but Illaoi has a lot more burst than Darius does, so if you're able to play your cards right, you should come out with more damage dealt in fight.

It may also be because seeing a champion you didn't know existed and feeling the need to look them up just as the load screen hits can be a tilter.
Riven and Fiora seem to have the best time against him that I know of, in that it's actually possible for them to win against him in lane with all that free mobility.
I've also heard tell that Yorick dumpsters him for some reason, but I have no idea what that's about and how that matchup plays out.

It's not 'free', it's part of their kit...

Yeah, me too, not sure why Yorick wins it though, doesn't seem to make sense to me. I mean, his way is literally useless because until it gets a few points, Darius can auto+W to kill it, and his W won't even go on CD. And he can take out ghouls incredibly quickly too, auto one, W another, auto the last, W if there's one more because it reset... Yorick can't dodge Darius Q's, either, and can't get out before Darius gets 5 stacks... If I had to guess, I'd say the ghouls prevent Darius from stacking on Yorick for a good ~2 seconds, and from there Yorick can probably bruteforce kill Darius before he gets to 5 stacks.
seems to trade well with her slow immunity and high resists. Just don't stick around too long.
I could trade Darius with morde too ,instead of maxing W (if you do it,you won't loose trades but you won't win either), i just put 1 pt at E then alternate W and Q to be a threat in a trade(your Q will outdamage his healing). Concerning the use of your ult,it'll depends on your summoners, and his.it'll be a battle of nerves because if you use it too soon, he just has to walk away and you overheal yourself.Still better than the case you use it too late: you die
These do ok, Xin only works if you go balls deep damage and can outfight him, this is a bit iffy early game but you outscale if you don't feed him, and even if you do, you still outscale later on. Just make sure to dodge the Q's, if they're bad they'll waste their time with them.
Jax is also iffy in laning, basically you need to juke his Q by Q'ing into him, don't force trades ever, unless you can kill him. When he Q's, just Q onto him, auto+W+auto again (if you didn't proc R), and run. If/when he grabs you back, cast E, and hit him a few times, until your E pops, then run. Make sure you don't take too long, otherwise you'll eat another Q as you retreat. When your Q is down, don't go near him at all. If he E's first, immediately cast E and auto+W. Auto him until E ends, and if he Q's, either dodge it by walking with him, or Q him if needed. Once your E ends, IF HIS Q IS DOWN just walk away, if it's not, Q to a minion and then walk away, otherwise he will Q when he gets unstunned and it'll hit you.
has pretty easy time against Dario as long as you avoid extended trades when your summons are down.
take W first and trade with him in short bursts, making sure to disengage before he can pull his damage off. play somewhat safe, too, but W him when he tries to trade with you. you can disengage a bit easier once you have your E.
Morde can straight up fight him early while also poking and healing himself through minions.
