Why Does Nidalee Still Have Her Heal?

Serious question. The heal makes no sense to have on an assassin's kit.

Is it still there from when she was initally created and they didn't bother to give her a new ability when she was reworked or something?

She's a hybrid Assassin/Poke mage. Sustain is good on poke mages. It also gives her some utility to fall back on when she isn't doing so hot as an assassin, allowing her to be balanced around not necessarily snowballing like crazy every game (well she still needs to do that, but without utility she would need to do it even more)

The alternative strength a poke mage usually has in that slot would either be cc or more damage.

I don't think we want Nidalee to have cc or deal more damage.

Makes sense, I didn't think of it that way. Haven't seen a Nid in a while and it's always been on my mind (especially when she used to be tagged as assassin/support, then got reworked and is now an assassin/fighter)

I think that's a fairer question than you're being given credit for.

She already gets to "have it both ways" with strong long range poke and assassin level follow up damage, which on it's own most people complain about with Zed, plus she has a strong foot up on her assassination power due to her not needing an ult with a 60+ second cooldown to wait for, just did she land a spear on someone decently isolated or not, so it's weird she has sustain in her kit that not even dedicated pokers like Ziggs get to have.

I feel like Nidalee could be given some other things if she didn't have the heal (some other utility, some added base health).

Says the league page, the wiki, and the client. They all say she is an assassin, secondary fighter.

Im talking about the league community.. no one considers her a assassin... people consider her a poke mage or a tanky mage.

Didn't know the community considered her a tanky mage. I knew she was sort of a poke mage because of her spears, but tanky mage is a first.

She has every quality of an assassin, albeit her playstyle is slightly different. I'd argue she plays like Ekko in the sense that both poke with their Q and go in once they've lined up potential for their combos.
