The awful quality of Season 8 stems down to what's going on inside the company.

The Core of the Problem

Between the sexism, the immaturity of the high ranked members of the company, Clash horrible launch, balance issues and budget problems for Worlds and other major competitive events, it is evident that Riot is going through one, if not, its worst phase since the release of the game.

I'm a firm believer that in order to fix a problem, it is important to find its absolute core. Following most of these events being brought to light recently, when they have been for a problem a long time before it was brought to the public eye, we can deduce that the core of the problem is not a simple item or a champion...it's the Rioters themselves as harsh as it sounds. Truth is, if we want league to last much longer and envision a great FUTURE (yes i know, a word this band-aid short-term solution company is not familiar with) for the game there needs to be something done about the company itself. Unfortunately, even the very few respectable Rioters that actually want to make this game enjoyable again gets silenced by the big ego man-children at the top of the company, thanks to their stubbornness and immaturity.

The Solution?

A company reform. To put it simply, there needs to be people fired in the company and replaced. Who specifically needs to be fired? The regressive, unopened to constructive high elo experienced feedback, immature man-children that farts on other employers faces, wear "just the tip" shirts and refuse to change their ways because "muh frat mentality". This is a business not a high school and it's really getting embarrassing at this point. Another thing is that I feel more of these hard-working Rioters who actually want, just like us, to envision a great future for the game need to speak up more about what's going on inside the company (thank you Cecilia D'Anastasio for the Kotaku article that started it all, Barry Hawkins and the others that spoke up).

Now as for the realistic point I wanted to bring up:

Will any of this actually happen?

The answer is no. Money and power talks, this isn't just a problem that affects Riot but also every major tech company in America. The thing is most of these people I describe as being regressive man-children are the high ranked members of the company and there's no way on earth they'd be willing to give away their position due to their ego (which we can understand if we see things through their POV). No amount of board, reddit or employer criticism will change their mentality as human nature is not something you can change with mere words.

Now you might feel I wrote all this for nothing since it will not change anything about the game but to me spreading some awareness, even if I might sound like a "wake up sheeple epic gamers rise up we live in a society person", is probably the only thing I can do for now as someone who has been passionate for this game since season 2. I really incite other people to do the same.

Thank you for bearing with my rant and sorry if I didn't manage to be as neutral as possible with my opinion, I hope your day outside of league has been going great.

stopped after sexism

we have entire companies that committed suicide by firing all of their male staff for a female only staff and they buried themselves.

"The reason the game sucks is because of sexism and frat mentality" is the biggest fucking leap of logic I have seen to date, it's almost painful.

"GET WOKE, GO BROKE".

How about they just work on making the game fun and less of a clown fiesta instead of this irrelevant nonsense.

I doubt it. The guy who wrote that article is talking about things that were happening back in 2013- Season 3. That has nothing to do with Season 8, and if that were the cause, then every season since 3 would have had "awful quality".

Making a joke isn't sexism.

What is sexism is going out of your way to hire a member of your same gender rather then the most qualified.

Reading Kotaku for gaming news is like reading the Huff Post for actual news. Its unreliable, biased, and just a garbage company that pushes for regressive left ideology in gaming.

Not even sure they need a fullscale change. They have like 10 times the employees needed. They just need to make a few key changes in divisions like gameplay and esports. Changing ghost crawler's position probably has a lot more effect than people are giving it credit for. The sexism stuff sucks but that probably isn't as big of an issue. These same people build league into what it was prior to all of the crap season 8. After reading all of the crap happening at valve and witnessing how great TI 8 was despite all of that, I feel that the bar as far as riot's internal struggles isn't as high as most people think.

really wish they could have picked something other than fking kotaku

BakedLotion8/29/2018, 1:24:22 PM3 votes

obviously a fake article because if riot really makes all those sexual jokes in their office, they wouldnt be all up in your ass about giving chat restrictions for saying a bad word

ModCaptainMårvelous8/29/2018, 4:03:05 PM3 votes

Yeah...no.

This isn't a new magical thing that happened in Season 8 dude. Riot has been like this since they were created and these problems were just as bad in Season 8 (perhaps even worse) as they were in whatever season you considered the best.

The sad thing is that one of the co-founders was part of this, honestly, and didn't see any reason for there to be a problem. Even moreso, that legal told a guy he needed to basically apologize for feeling that it was inappropriate or else he wouldn't move up any higher and possibly lose his job, and the other might not be doing it, but doesn't seem to care about it either. I don't think this is the problem with the game itself, but the dam broke open and now everything's gonna come flooding out. They're either gonna have to do something about it, or fall on their own swords. I mean, the R word probably(I haven't tested it) isn't even allowed on these boards, but making jokes about it inside the company is somehow okay?

I'm just going to stop reading at sexism. Whether Riot is sexist or not has next to no impact on gameplay design. Not to mention the only thing that suggests sexism is one article being mad over what was clearly a joke and another from a biased unreliable source that doesn't have any names or faces of anyone involved.

Sorry to say but Riot probably isn't sexist, and even if they were it would not effect the game balance.
