Manamune and Ohmwrecker: The Forgotten Items of League

TLDR: Some items are so niche in how they work, it is impossible for anyone to build them. By slightly adjusting passives to increase the number of situations they can be used in, they could become dramatically more viable on multiple champions. Some examples of these changes are listed. Comment bellow on what you think or what items you'd change!!!

There are a handful of items in League that have amazing fantasies and unique effects, but rarely if ever see play. The two best examples of this are Ohmwrecker and Manamune. Both come close to being viable on a few champions, but each fall short. Each passive is so specific that it forces out any potential users. By broadening what the passives can be used for but not adding power, these items could see more use.

item 3042 Muramana (Transformed version of Manamune when it reaches max stacks)

  • Now: UNIQUE – SHOCK: Basic attacks and single targeted abilities against champions (on-hit) consume 3% current mana to deal 6% current mana bonus physical damage. This effect only activates while you have greater than 20% maximum mana.

  • New: UNIQUE – SHOCK: When a basic attack or ability hits at least one enemy champion, it consume 3% current mana to deal 6% current mana bonus physical damage to each enemy. This effect only activates while you have greater than 20% maximum mana. Deals 66% less damage on area-of-effect abilities, and can only be activated once per cast of an ability.

With this change, it can now activate its effect on AoE abilities. While not a large buff to its primary user, Ezreal, many other champions could consider using it. The damage is only slightly better as well, with a champion needing to hit at least 3 people with an AoE in order to get the same damage as a single target ability. But even only hitting 2 people, it’s still a damage increase that may be appealing enough for some champions to consider buying it.

item 3056 Ohmwrecker

  • Now: UNIQUE: Targets an enemy turret to prevent it from attacking for 3 seconds (120 second cooldown). This effect cannot be used against the same tower more than once every 8 seconds.

  • New: UNIQUE: Target enemy champion or tower takes 25-100 (based on level) (+10% Armor)(+10% Magic Resistance) physical damage. If an enemy champion is hit, they are slowed by 20% for 3 seconds. If an enemy tower is hit, the damage becomes true damage and the tower is unable to attack for the next 3 seconds. (120 second cooldown)

Part of the issue with Ohmwreckers passive is that since it only works on towers, there are very few chances to get any value out of it. This version allows for enemy champions to be targeted, adding a small amount of damage (250 maximum on Ramus) and utility in the form of a slow. Now, the using this effect on a champion is not great, but in the cases of a jungle fight or defending one's own base, it is actually usable rather than a waste of an item slot.

Changes Like these would go a long way towards improving some items performance and a result become something multiple champions could consider. With that choice comes game and champion diversity, one of the most requested things from Players. Riot may not be able to fit these into their immediate schedule, but improving items like this should be a goal that could be accomplished within the next year.

Comment bellow on what you think! Would you make these changes, or do you think that these items need something else? What items do you think that this is the case for? Share any of these thoughts or what you've been thinking about down bellow in the comments!

Manamune is perfectly fine.
